Style and Class... Hustle from the catchers position. Always helpful with other teams. Great humor and general team spirit. When he's running with the ball, base runners think twice!
Great Leadership on the mound. Fantastic pitching and hitting. Lead his team to two back to back victories. Great sportmanship and attitude that rose above the rest. Great communication with team on defense
Starting of the night right, making plays and explaining rules to opponents Gary was on his game. Offering advice and helping them out with where to kick as catcher, he's an all game team player.
Carrying his skills and advice over to the next game. He's a good player but an even better guy. Nice game
Anisa Babar is a great bunter... except on one bunt attempt she made on Tuesday night at Irving Park. After several successful bunt attempts earlier in the game, a pitch came to her and she stuck her foot out and the ball rolled right underneath it. She almost came down right on top of the ball which could have caused an even more embarrassing fall but luckily the ball rolled under. After a hearty laugh at herself, however, Anisa was back up there and laid down a perfect bunt making it to first safely. It is this "If at First You Don't Succeed, Try, Try Again" attitude that embodies the true Underdog spirit. Sometimes a less than fortunate play is an opportunity to show a resilient spirit that can make someone the Underdog Player of the Week. Congratulations Anisa!
Bob played very well this week. He didn't only get Player of the Game for an awesome double play on a ricochet, he played excellently in the field and at the plate the whole game. You could tell he was having a good time because of the big smile on his face and his joking around with the catcher while batting. Keep it up!
Doug played exceptionally this week, both on defense and at the plate. He pitched a great game, and made a couple stellar defensive plays on comebackers, and he started the scoring for his team with a great hit in the early innings. He kept a great attitude and was having fun on the field even when the game was close and intense. He was a great leader and example setter to his team this week. Keep up the good work!
The Winners, Losers + Boozers played very well in both the first game and championship game. I found that Neal really stood out among the players. Neal has excellent kicking power and is quick on his feet. In the first game Neal took a tumble out in left field that he got up slowly from. However, in the championship game that did not stop Neal from switching to right field and making countless pop fly catches.
