Winter Co-ed Kickball at Portland State Sundays

After a few months off, Ball Don't Lie (formerly a ton of different team names) were ready to kick Winter off right, and it all started with Tom Cogswell on the mound. Tom used every ounce of good fortune coming his way to throw bunter after bunter out on their way to first, seemingly throwing the ball blindly towards the area and letting the Force take over. Whatever Tom's intention, it worked, time and time again. Couple that with some timely kicks and some background tunes, and Tom captained his team to an opening day victory worth remembering!

As the big boots of La Kickaracha came to the plate, they all had the same idea: pick on the girl in right field. BIG MISTAKE. Naomi was a vacuum in right, catching everything that came her way, and keeping the game close late with some big plays.

In arguably the most competitive, closely contested game of the season, Team Buddy escaped La Kickaracha by the slimmest of margins due to an amazing play in left-center by Trish. Holding a one run lead, Team Buddy had their backs against the wall, with La Kickaracha threatening with runners on the corners and only one out. Then, a quickly sinking pop fly to short centerfield. Trish got on her horse, dove to catch the ball, flipped it in the air to Mariko, who laid the tag down for a bang-bang double play to end the game. The rare moment where everyone on the field stands with their jaws dropped sealed La Kickaracha's fate, and kept the renaissance season for Team Buddy rolling along! Great heads up play Trish!
