Service Industry team into the season's opener with 2 new players. "The Underdog Noobs" as they were called.
While they were warming up, a game was being played and a ball got loose. So one of The Underdog Noobs, Kurt Muntzy, dove like he was Nicholas Cage saving the planet from destruction in a movie. The ball never got on the court thanks to his heroic efforts.
When they got onto their court to start their match, both Kurt Muntzy and Rick Sany had no fear of diving to save a ball as if the cameras were rolling in an action packed movie.
Both these players and new players not only helped Service Industry to an opening day win, but also helped them in having a great time on the court. For their amazing efforts in filming a movie with smiles on their faces, The Underdog Noobs get the Players of the Week award. Congratulations!
Team Burt Reynolds (indy) team had their all star make it out tonight. Emily Echerer missed the 1st week, but came to grace us with her presence this week around.
Everyone in the vicinity knew she was there, because of her positive attitude and great smile. You can't be anywhere near her without a smile on your face. When she got in the game and rotated to the front net, it was instant points because she would distract the other team by her contagious smile and great aura.
She chewed her bubble gum extra flavor while playfully beating up on another player on the side. And it was all because she was having fun.
Congratulations to an instant player of the week in Emily Echrerer from team Burt Reynolds!
Kirsten is player of the week this week for her excellence in team spirit on and off the court. Loud and proud she called out lines, tips, and serves and kept her team's energy high flying. In between scrambling across the court and keeping her eyes on the prize, Kirsten observed her teammates' moves and offered tips and tricks while on the sidelines waiting for her next turn to crush it. Great job, Kirsten!
Ms. Hannie Spitzack has been crowned as the Player of the Week this week! Hannie hustled all over the court, and made every effort to not let a single ball drop. She brightened up the court with her neon pink tank and matching shoes, and lit a fire under her team with her supportive team spirit and excellent communication skills. Hannie's aggressive play and superior court sense helped her team rise to victory and gave her the honor being this week's Player of the Week! Congratulations Hannie!
The final week of league play turned out to be a viscous day for team IgoNoUgo. They played a great battle, taking on team Floor Play.
Floor Play's captain, Sam, sat everyone down before the game to watch the movie X-Men. Only one player from took it to heart and understood the underlying message....to dominate.
Katrina Lines did her best impression of Halle Barry's character, Storm. Katrina was all over the court causing crazy ruckus for the opposing team. She would run, dip, dive and dig all the balls that came towards her. When her teammates would set her up, she elevated in the air to crush the ball for a point. When Katrina served, she dismantled the opposing team making them run all over the court scratching their heads in wonder.
Katrina showed her version of Hurricane Katrina in leading team Floor Play to a victory. And to think it was all inspired by the Movie X-Men.
Congratulations to Katrina Lines as she gets the Player of the Week Award.

Dynamic Duo
Ally-Nor
Before the season started, the indy team approached the famous actor Burt Reynolds to ask if they can use his name as a sign of respect. I don't know how they did it, but he agreed to loaning out his name.
On Tuesday, 1st round of the playoffs, the actor was proud of his team. Team Burt Reynolds played as if he was standing over them. Two players in particular played their hearts out. Eleanor Becher and Allison Kutz were known as the dynamic duo out there. They played as if all the beer in the world was gone....this drove them mad. Both players scrambled the entire game to rally their troops to continually play better. No ball ever hit the ground when these two players were on the court together.
When talking to them, I saw an aura of Burt Reynolds winking in approval. This tag team dynamic duo was referred by many as Ally-Nor. Congratulations to team Burt Reynolds and Ally-Nor for getting the Players of the Week Award.
This week's Player of the Week is Eleanor Becher from our Indy Team: Burt Reynolds! Eleanor made an epic appearance for the Division II Finals. Eleanor came out swinging with fast flying serves and great net play. She bounced around the court, and pushed her team to play hard. Her cheering and fast play boosted her team's morale through the 3rd game led them to a win! Congratulations Eleanor!
