Daddy Delivers
3 Run walk off RBI
Chumbawumba entered the bottom of the 7th inning down 5. As the sun set over the trees it appeared it was setting on there chances as well. That’s when the bats got hot. Cody stepped up to the plate with 1 out and the bases loaded. As if the pressure wasn’t already enough, his new born baby woke up from a nap to see what Dad was made of. Cody ripped a 3 run walk off RBI down the left field line to win the game! Daddy delivers - mic drop...

Electroluminators impressive was in all phases of game
The Kelly(ie)s were catching line drives hit at high speeds and displaying stellar sportsmanship to stick around and help another team. Don’t forget Derrick’s dominant inning where he recorded ecerhbout!
Kenji put all of his talents on display this week. And folks, that doesn't stop at his athletic prowess. Kenji spreads good vibes with a great attitude and he just might have a chance at becoming a light night open mic comedy star. Kenji has fun, he plays hard, what CAN'T he do?!
Nikkey Cardema did it all for team eROIals on Tuesday night at Irving Park. Not only did Nikkey pitch an outstanding game, but he drove in the game-winning run in the bottom of the 7th inning. With two outs in the bottom of the 7th and the winning run on second base, Nikkey put a ball deep into the gap in left-center field. The runner from second scored standing up and the eROIals earned the win as the sun faded on Irving Park.
Melissa Helps How YOU Doin'? Stay On Top of the Standings
How YOU Doin'?
Melissa did it all this week for How YOU Doin'?. Whether it was at the plate, behind the plate, or in the field, she was making plays for her team while leading them to a perfect 3-0 record this season. More importantly, Melissa was helping to contribute to the fun by not only helping her own team but encouraging the opposing team as well. Keep it up, Melissa!
To start the game, Adam Eury had an amazing diving backhand stop at Shortstop and flipped it to second to record the out. He was only getting started. Adam continued to shine in the field as well as the plate. With How YOU Doin'? down 4 runs int he top of the 7th, Adam drove in the tying run to keep the game alive. All around great performance from Adam!
Not only did Any Eiden pitch a beautiful, but he had a day at the plate as well. In a matchup of two teams at the top of the standings, Andy came through for his team when they needed him. He provided several hits including a bases-clearing triple to give the Therminators an early lead. Great job, Andy!
Colin Reese Helps Lead Team to 2nd Place in Standings
Underhanded Compliments
It was a night to remember for Colin Reese. With his team needing a win to move up to 2nd place in the league standings, Colin delivered. Colin hit for the cycle with a double in his last at-bat. Colin was also remarkable in the field strategically placing himself in the outfield. Great job, Colin!
With a difficult day at the plate, Bobi made up for it in the field. Best play of the game with a ricocheted hit off the pitcher, one hop to Bobi at second and fired it to first base for the second out in the final inning. Way to keep her head in the game!!!!
After giving up a 6 run lead in the top of the 6th, Matt came up to the plate and blasted the first pitch he saw to walk off and earn his team the victory. Great job, Matt!
Kylie Freeman Leads ChumbaWumba to an Undeafeated Record
Chumbawumba
Chumbawumba needed a victory on Monday night to keep pace with the league leaders. Kylie supplied a stellar performance at the plate, consistent play in the field, and great sportsmanship. She was contributed to the fun-spirited game on Monday and that is what Underdog is all about. Nice job, Kylie!
John Casana may want to contemplate a career in comedy or acting. Although his play on the field is stellar, John is the definition of an Underdog Sports Leagues participant. From the moment he stepped on to the field, he was putting a smile on everybody's face, including the other team. With his makeshift solar windmill and his cape, he made Monday night at Erv Lind field one to remember executing one punch line after another! Thank you, John, for providing so many laughs!
"It ain't over till it's over," Yogi Berra once said. And true was the case tonight as the "Blue Flames" needed to rally from behind in the late innings to win and advance to the championship game. This is where the mighty Drew Saunders comes into play. Down 18 to 12 in the top of the 6th, with 1 out and bases loaded, Drew fielded a hard ground ball at first. Drew tagged the runner advancing to 2nd and then quickly ran to his left to get the batter/runner reaching for 1st to end the inning. Then in the bottom of the same inning, Drew hit a two run triple.
Drew's game play in the 6th inning was definitely the game changer.
Cameron Duhon; modern day warrior?........some may say so. Mr. Duhon showed up ready to play this evening; bandana tied loosely around his neck incase he needed to block out the haze the filled the Wednesday night air, a backwards Oregon Ducks hat and a look in his eyes of shear focus and will. Underhanded Compliments started off the night in Game #2, earning a win to move them on to face the #1 seeded How YOU Doin'. Duhon was blocking every ball in the dirt like he had collected a six figure signing bonus to do so. I ball never made it to the backstop and at times he would use his throwing hand to bat the ball on a short hop to keep it in front. On a wild throw to home plate during Game #2, Cameron pulled of a sideways knee slide to chest up a throw like a true professional..........IN SHORTS!!! Game #3 came with one of the best plays I've seen all year and what a better time to lay it all out on the line then playoff season. A foul tip was making it's way towards the backstop when Cameron jumped just enough to catch it before hitting the fence, while in the process smashing into the backstop and remaining in possession of the ball for the inning's third out. It was such a magnificent catch that I had to help him off the ground after he was forced to barrel roll after the catch. Cameron then leads of the following inning with an absolute no doubter of a home run to cap off a legendary performance. Unfortunately Underhanded Compliments fell to the #1 seed 20-10, but no body at Erv Lind will forget the legend of Cameron Duhon.
You ever been to a ball game and there's that guy that's got all those catchy phrases and wit that you wish you had? That is Sean. It might also be SeanBob. Sean is always encouraging his team, keeping everyone in it, regardless of time of day or score. It's always a good time when The Bunt for Red October is on the hunt.
