Spaceballs 13: Your Father's Brother's Nephew's Cousin's Former Kickball Team

Normally, this is the section where someone or some team would get a write up for an outstanding play. This week, I'm taking a different direction.

When I arrived at Sewallcrest before game time, the field was in BAD shape. Without asking for help, or mentioning the problems, Spaceballs 13 jumped to action, helping smooth out some ridiculous potholes down the 1st base line.

It's pretty amazing when we, as umps, see a team take on this responsibility to help promote a safe, fair, fun league for everyone else. Great job Spaceballs! Your efforts are appreciated more than this write up can express.

7-0 Wasted Talent wins. Nope, that's not a misprint. The lovable ragtag gang of social workers and the like started the day off at Sewallcrest, by laying some poundage on 2 Legit 2 Kick.

With heady baserunning and some solid defense, Wasted Talent did all the little things, and did them well enough to lock down their first win of the season!

On a day where torii hunter's bloody scalp was the story of the sports world, Shawna was the story of the Portland world. She played her life out and her energy out and left it all out on the field. Its this kind of spirit in a close game that we can all appreciate.

Never hurts

Taking on rivals She's Going Down, The Ball Kickers were on there game for 9 innings, but it wasn't enough. Ginger was doing what she could, making several nice catches in the infield and protecting herself with her backside at 2nd. Making plays, having fun and laughing while playing, she was doing it.
Nice game played by both teams, neither one wanting to lose. She stayed positive and played her game.
