Bumpin' Uglies

Kristin fought all night long. She brought her game to opening night off the play offs, as well as all season long. Great game Kristin!

Balls In produces a real Cinderella story

Underdog Indies become the Bells of the Hillside VolleyBall courts

On March 14th, 2010 magic happened on the hills of Portland. To start off the night in the semifinals on court two Indy #2 faced Balls In (also an Indy team). Since the beginning of the soft-core winter season both teams increased their team camaraderie, skill level, and all out “badassness.” Though the match only went to two games, Indy #2 gave Balls In a run for their money. Also in the semifinals, on court one the neon green shirted Court Blasters took on undefeated The Krankers, who played with only five players throughout the playoff. This fiery match lead to The Krankers’ victory and cemented their spot in the finals.

One last match between the Court Blasters and Indy #2 determined the 3rd and 4th place finishers. With some awesome plays from Taryn Cardenas and kills from Josh Bremer, Indy #2 played a gutsy game and ended the season in 3rd place. A 4th place finish for the Court Blasters increased their 5th place seeding into the playoff tournament. Sweet! The game of the night, the championship game, lived up to the hype. Two talented soft-core teams fought tooth and nail and in the end Garrett Skjelstad and his team Balls In brought the heat and the final points necessary to pull out an Underdog tournament Victory! Seeded 6th against top ranked The Krankers, Balls In showed that underdogs truly can rise to the top! Way to go Balls In! Your black shirts and smiley faces will go down in history as the Championship uniforms of the 2010 Soft-Core Winter League Tournament!
