Notes

First Place

Summer Co-ed Grass Volleyball at Oregon Park Thursdays

Serving and spiking were the formula for Service Industries championship run. It took tons of both to beat a very tough "Put Me In Coach" team.

Lead by the great play of Scott Hoback and Samantha Clemens "Coach was able to steal the first game and put the pressure on their opponent. "Industry" responded and rolled to the title.

The great back line play of Malia Robello allowed the rest of the team to focus on other aspects of the game. Peter Kost ran down loose ball while Megan Borgeit and Galen Swain set Jesse Smith for his kill shots. Alex Marrs and DJ Moody from "Put Me in Coach" did all they could at the net to shut down Jesse but his skills proved to much to handle.

It was a very good match-up between two very good teams. A fitting end to a fine season.

Thursday, August 11

Jesse Smith kills it on way to the title.

It all came down to this final game and Service Industry came out on top. Championship week surely brought out everyone's best game. The strategy was simple, serve strong and get the ball to Jesse Smith whenever possible. It was a very successful strategy.

Jesse's ability to spike everything within reach proved to tough to handle when it really mattered. Great hustle and passing by the rest of his squad him focus on what he does best.

Thursday, July 21

Malia's backrow passing is key to victory.

It was quite a display of back-row play put on Thursday. Malia turned every ball Put me in Coach sent her way into a scoring opportunity. Hustle was the key. Whether, it was running to a far corner chasing a tough serve or digging a hot spike that eluded blockers Malia made it happen. Her quality first passes lead to many points.

Malia made it look easy and that helped her team do the same.
