On opening night at Montavilla, one player stood above the rest. Jaime (don't call her Jamie) NIcely embodied what Underdog is all about. All smiles and good times, Jaime came out with two goals in mind: 1) Make sure everyone on that field is having a good time and 2) Just win baby!
With 2 outs in the bottom of the 5th, and Balls N' Dolls rallying with runners on base, the last thing you want to do is lose a pop-up in the lights. As the pop-up began to violently spin back towards home plate, Sarah sprinted off her perch on the mound, and made an absolutely spectacular diving catch, making sure to cradle and secure the ball before she became immersed in dirt. It's this kind of heady play that makes Sarah Koniarski the player of the week.
Ryndi Tano brought a lot to the plate at Montavilla Park, with great kicks being just one. She ran with the fury of a tiger and the agility of a cheetah, caught with the dexterity of a spider monkey, and had a smile that could melt the heart of even a snowman. Combine all of this with her awesome spirit and amazing sportsmanship, and it becomes obvious that nobody deserves the spotlight this week more than Ryndi. She fought like a warrior on the field yet retained the humility of a patron saint, and this all makes her the perfect candidate for Underdogger of the week. Great job out there Ryndi, keep the kicks and smiles coming!
Indy #1 (Balls N Dolls) are starting to come together. A perfect example of this is Abby Chin's eagerness to step in and run for the injured Kelly Doane. Abby was all over the place this week, pitching a complete game, kicking and running for herself, and then turning around to run for Kelly. To top it all off, she did it with a smile on her face the whole time. It's effort like this that makes Balls N Dolls look like serious threat for the league title.
Tanya Snyder FINALLY got to play a game without watching over a little one on the sidelines... and it showed as Tanya worked her magic all over the field, hustling around the basepaths and keeping everyone on their toes with her "ninja-like" speed. Here's to more child-less games like this one Tanya!
Game 1 in the wet, rainy season final at Montavilla, was sloppy, but didn't disappoint. Balls n Dolls had Ballsonyas started the night off right, shaking off the rain and playing through the slickness.
Chip was ready all game, making plays at 2nd on defense, adding kicks and getting dirty on offense. Having a blast and adding his mojo throughout the game. Nice game by both sides.
League team rankings and playoffs schedules will be released after ALL regular season games are played. Your team will be emailed as soon as the league rankings and playoff schedule are live.
