Coming into the finals were two strong teams with solid skills. Tonight Safe Sets played with a ton of energy and focus despite their silent cheers and basketball breaks. Funky Drunk Lobsters on the other hand were off their game. FDL typically in tune with each other and pulling off some great points, but tonight were "messy" and just trying to stay alive "taking what we can get". Unfortunately it was not enough to keep the win out of Safe Sets hands. Kari showing up in the first set serving aces, Nicole with her perfect sets, Johnny (aka Chris) jumping around blocking and spiking, Tracie feeling the heat up high and serving up lefty spikes, and then Kurt's awesome save bringing it back in and over the net. Ending the night with Nicole's winning spike. Congrats Midcore Champs!
Chris from Safe Sets signed up for volleyball and played a couple games then disappeared for a few weeks coming back just in time for playoffs. He says he was in China and has pictures to prove it. Well, the team didn't let him off easy, they made him work for his spot. He made some smooth hits and sets in the first game which helped send the Safe Sets onto the semifinals. In the semifinals Chris was "playing his spot" and tipping the ball over the net with perfect timing, sealing the fate of Safe Set sending them onto the finals. Good game Chris, now show us the pictures!
