Nikky is awarded Player of the Week honors for last Sunday at Peninsula Park for her upbeat attitude and demeanor all while playing in a highly competitive semifinal. She made important contributions to her team by being a vocal cheerleader, first and third base coach, and playing solid team kickball. Nikky was able to keep the atmosphere loose, friendly, and fun by chatting with the other team and just having an overall energetic personality that makes kickball that much more enjoyable.
Nikky Katigbak gets around... the bases that is. In Sunday's game at Peninsula Park, this girl tried to stretch a bunt into a triple with her fleet feet. Ultimately it ended in disaster as she was tagged out between 2nd and 3rd after a run down that found her running out of the baseline and almost to the Pitching Rubber before being tagged out because she slipped down. If you want to get Nikky out, you're going to have to go to the ends of the earth to do it! The slip gave her a nasty raspberry that had to be treated with the Underdog First Aid Kit but her spirit was undaunted. She continued to play hard with antibiotic ointment on her leg! Aside from this, Nikky was a courteous opponent, chatting up the Possums catcher with pleasurable repartee every time she came up to kick. This combination of competitive grit and conscientious sportsmanship is the true spirit of what Underdog Sports Leagues is all about! Way to go Nikky! You're this week's Player of the Week.
