This week's honor goes to Sarah Malone for an outstanding defensive performance. Her first kickball game went down as a highlight for the team with her play in the outfield. From towering fly balls to low line drives, this girl caught everything. A wonderful day for Sarah and her team. Great effort Sarah!

POTW: Sarah Kowal
Haute Compost
Sarah Kowal is this week's POTW for an outstanding day at third. Her enthusiasm and great passion lead to a fantastic defensive display at third. Ball after ball hit at Sarah resulted in an out. Sarah made some great rolling dives to catch tough outs all game. Awesome start to a great summer season!

POTW: Paul Haessig
Unthirsty Quenchers
Paul's solo home run was only overshadowed by the rest of his team building up their spirit for the game around him. The shot got everyone out of their seat and raring to seize the game by the jibblies. Nice kick, Paul. Keep getting those Unthirsty Quenchers on the cheer!
With his spider man reflexes, Mike was a defensive dynamo on the mound. Anything kicked his way seemed to spell an automatic out for the other team. Whether it was making a finger tip catch on a bloop kick, or pouncing off the mound like an angry panther, Mike seemed to come up with one big play after another. If Underdog Kickball was aired on ESPN, Mike's plays would have comprised a majority of the top 10 plays of the day. Just an all-around fantastic performance.

POTW: Kelly Hagerman
Shake n' Bake
If only we all could feel the wrath of our own mistakes in such a hilarious way as Kelly last Thursday. Getting the force out at third, Kelly still tries to tag the runner heading her way. The ball ricochets off the runner's chest and right back to her face. Though he is not out twice, at least everyone was alright. Well, more than alright. Everyone was laughing, including Kelly. Well done! Your sacrifice made the game better than ever!

POTW: Kym Bradley
Pink Bunny Rangers
Kym gets the nod this week not for dancing to the boombox or the music in her head. No, she was bustin' a move at 2nd base to the opposing teams cheers. If songs about compost is what it takes to get your bootie movin - we'll support you Kym.

POTW: Greg Schroeder
Shake n' Bake
Greg Shroeder, of Shake N' Bake, showed us all his true colors on Tuesday, and his colors bleed passion and intensity. Greg led his team to a 10-5 victory on Tuesday, screaming emphatically as his kick soared into the outfield bringing in himself and three of his teammates for a grand slam.
Katie Phillips showed us the perfect way to juggle fun and responsibility. When not playing with her child on the sidelines, she was having a blast on the field, helping her team, Wii Not Fit, to a 5-4 win over The Make It Happen Captains on Thursday.

POTW: Chad Johnson
Thee Angry Dragons
Ah, the unlikely decision between "who wears short shorts?" and "he's got legs, he knows how to use them". I thought the day would never come, but there it was. Chad in some dangerously short shorts and a thirst for glory in the 100 degree weather. There is nothing that makes us happier than a team fighting their way to victory in the freshest threads of yesteryear. You are a hero among men, Chad. Now, if you can get your whole team to follow your lead, you've got the makings of a legendary team...

POTW: John Wood
Pink Bunny Rangers
Ah, ecstatic Mr. Wood. You've done the league proud and earned the bunny ears of greatness in our final week of regular season kickball. It's kickballers like you that make us happy at Underdog, good sir. Trying to call your own teammates on infield fly rules, heckling the ref with hilarious banter, jumping up and down excitedly in the outfield, etc. Your full 7 innings of unfettered rambunctiousness was a joy to behold for all there to witness. You are a god among men, albeit a jovial one in bunny ears.

POTW: Josh Powell
Pink Bunny Rangers
Josh steals the POTW this week with his numerous great defensive plays. The most amazing of all was a sniper shot from the mound on a relay to catch the Unthirsty Quencher runner just before touching the base. If only we'd had slow motion cameras set up on the field to get the look on the PBR faces as the throw was made. Desperation and determination turned to a mass celebration at the "out" call. Great tosses, Josh. You've led your team into the finals!
Holy wow, Shake n' Bake! Back to back wins with superb kickballin' all around. Coming back from behind in both games' 7th innings and kept yourselves alive to battle for the Lillis Albina crown. Honestly, two of the most exciting and fun games I've seen in a long time. Well done and good luck next week!
Oh, how the rain came down in the finals of a great Lillis Albina season! Amidst the never ending blooper reel of dropped catches, misplaced throws and slipping all over the field, Emily was able to bring in every ball shot out to left center. Great catches out there, Emily. Keep making your team look great!
