Sam is the Player of the Week for many reasons. He played multiple positions very well this week, different from his normal routine of pitching. As he said, "It is no fun winning a Gold-Glove for only one position". High caliber play is nothing new from Sam.
What truly earned him Player of the Week honors is his hard work off the field. He likes to arrive early and stay late to watch games. During this time Sam is very vocal in encouraging other teams to play hard and have as much fun as possible. He is the most vocal member of a very vocal and fun team. He works hard to get to know other teams and this week even a couple fans. Thanks to Sam for living the Underdog Motto every Sunday!
In the driving misty rain, Hannah provided sure handed defense for her team. With numerous teammates missing, Hannah was called upon to hold down both shortstop and third base and did a fantastic job. She was a vacuum cleaner out there; any ball hit her way was a sure out. Great all around play.
Aaron refused to let a little adversity break his teams' spirit. He looked like the guy from that movie "300", all sweaty and yelling at people to provide some much needed motivation. The Bat Doctors made a tremendous rally and it was no doubt fueled by Aaron's enthusiasm and fantastic play.
To earn P.O.W. honors this week Elliot had to shake off a freak soccer accident that left him playing one handed. Inspired by the World Cup final he was watching before his two o'clock game Elliot came out and had an afternoon many people playing with two good hands would envy. His uncanny ability to put the ball in play one handed enabled him to rack up multiple base hits an "infield triple" and many RBI's. On the mound Elliot made up for a sore glove hand by working the strike zone allowing his defense to help him out and working the psyche of opposing hitters by an increased amount of chatter on the hill.
POTW: Laura Aurther, Amelia Kearns and Jacque Burns*
Swamp Donkeys
All three girls played three games on Sunday. Laura and Amelia played one game for their own team and two as subs, Jacque played a split double header for her team and one game as a sub. Laura pitched all three games winning one and doing all she could to keep her team close in the other two. She also had multiple hits on the day and ran the bases very well leading to runs for her team. She is a very vocal player and was working hard to keep her team involved all day long.
Amelia played first base making many nice plays while holding down a key defensive position. She hit the ball well and powered through a long day enabling many people to have fun playing softball all day long.
Jacque(Death From Above) is a solid player in the outfield. She provided solid defense all day long. Hitting the ball hard from the left side of the plate she moved runners up and drove them in. She mixed in a few walks meaning she was on base all day long.
The three girls played all day long and produced all day long.
POTW: Pabst Smear + Whisky Richard and Death From Above.

Members of Pabst Smear, Whiskey Richard and Death from Above came together to play the Busch Leaguers in a very close game. The combined effort of those 3 teams narrowly edged the Busch Leaguers 13-11. By far the best game of the day!

POTW: Alicia Mickes
Townies
Alicia was key all day. Hitting in the middle of the line-up she had many run producing hits and game changing hits. She kept the momentum going each at bat. Her defense also changed games. By keeping the ball in front of her, catching everything in site and making good throws she helped to eliminate scoring opportunities for all the other teams.
