Softball and fun go hand in hand. No other player on Sunday demonstrated that like Spencer did. Not only was he all over every fly ball that was hit his way, his constant chatter and up beat attitude in the dug out kept his entire team loose and ready to play. Great job Spencer...
People hit home runs at softball games. But not everyone hits Cecil-Fielder-Out-of-Tiger-Stadium shots. Nick managed to drop a few bombs of such proportions. We're talking onto the tennis court and into the school at Lillis-Albina park. Plus, these were just the longest in a series of towering shots. Hey, this guy even got a high five from the opposing pitcher; so let's put a cherry on it and call him the player of the week. Congratulations Nick!
Death From Above, Huevos Grandes, Slabtown Swingers, Cubicalsex
Double Duty
Kim decided to stick around and provide a helping hand to We Don't Stop at Third, playing the role of good samaritan in a big win for her adoptive team. Great job Kim and thanks for helping the other team field a full roster.
Death From Above, Nice Snatch, We Don't Stop At Third, Yeah, I Hit That!
Tom the Pitcher
Sometimes you have to roll out and play some ball in wet conditions, and Tom was all about it. So what if Huevos couldn't capture a W through their double header, the whole team had a great time, stayed in good spirits despite the weather and no one more than Tom the Pitcher. It's not like these guys weren't competitive, they had to deal with playing with just 8 players and still made things interesting. Hats off to Tom and Huevos Grandes for their good spirits despite a drizzly double header!
Nice Snatch and Cubicalsex were all ready to play. They even got a few innings in as the rain came down, but alas the heavens finally opened up and turned Lillis-Albina into a lake.
We Don't Stop At Third forfeited to Slabtown Swingers.
Double Headers
Death From Above, Huevos Grandes
....looking the part...
Aida certainly looked the part of a softball catcher, donning the face mask and making the area behind the plate hers. Aida was constantly chattering, keeping everyone on her team and the other team in a good, light and cheery mood. Great job Aida, you're are a total Underdog!!!!!
We Don't Stop At Third forfeited to Huevos Grandes.
Double Headers
Death From Above
Painting the black
People might call him Sherwin Williams, because Johnny Randak sets up on the bump and paints the outside corners of the plate. Never one to give into batters or a stingy strike zone Johnny keeps hitters on their toes by working the inside and outside parts of the plate without serving anything up down the middle. Couple that with consistent line drives to left field every at bat and Johnny "Sherwin Williams" Randak is the player of the week!
We Don't Stop At Third forfeited to Yeah, I Hit That!.
Sarah Freel
Nice Snatch
It's a crying shame Sarah Freel hasn't been player of the week yet. For someone with such a ferocious growl/hiss (literally), you'd think she'd be running away with the honor week in and week out. This week she was all over the field, lacing base hits and making defensive stops at second. She even stuck around the whole day to support friends from other teams and enjoy the sun. So hats off to you Sarah, you're the player of the week!
The story of every championship is the player that stepped up big! There is no question that player for Huevos Grandes was Sabrina. Sabrina came through with timely hit after timely hit, racking up countless RBIs and two out clutch hits along the way. If you asked Sabrina she probably wouldn't say she was the most feared of the Huevos Grandes, but if you asked her team whose play put them over the top, they'd all say Sabrina! Congratulations Sabrina, this weeks top player! And Congratulations Huevos Grandes, 2011 Fall Champs!
