Led by Captain Don MacOdrum, The Guild was overflowing with true Underdog attitude and effort. A group short on experience but long hustle and understanding.
The group took opening night to see what they had. Players such as Sara Walker and Griffen Hagle tried multiple positions, Multiple people pitched.and by the end of the second game everyone was pounding the ball around the field.
This group of newbies is fair from polished but very close to winning some games. A great group with great things ahead.

Aida
Yeah, I Hit That!
There was something special in the air last night. If you had been there, you would instantly know it. It was this feeling -- this sense -- that something wasn't quite the same. Was it the majesty of an early summer's sunset? No. Actually it was some homeless dude, high on bath salts, reciting slam poetry from the platform directly behind the home plate backstop. Oh, and then there was Aida. Behind her catchers mask was a fierce competitive spirit; a force that kept her team centered. It was that spirit, and not the slam poetry, that helped lead Aida's team to a decisive victory. Well done, Aida!!!

Hilton's Hustlas Workin it on Tuesday.
Sprited comeback just falls short.
In true Underdog fashion Hilton's Hustlas brought there A game on Tuesday. Some of the nicest folks on a night filled with the nicest people. They had a highly decorated dugout and a great fan-base. Their hustle and good spirit made this game very close and tons of fun.
After a slow start and figuring a few things out they battled back and took a tough Therminators team to the wire. Playing with only 9 players their defense was amazing and kept it close the whole way.
Slow pitch softball requires a few things. A bat, a glove, and a ball. Nowhere on the list is long pants. Though that particular item would have saved Luke some skin, he threw caution to the wind. He slid where not many would have, and he did it for his team. Congrats Luke for playing hard and leaving the field with no regrets.
Kyle took matters into his own hands in his teams victory this week. He not only made pro-style catches in left field, but he showed constant sportsmanship to all those around him.
The Subcoolers may not have been on the right side of the scoreboard but they did things right all night. Taking advantage of the double header the Subcoolers set up a fine food spread, made many softball related improvements and played some stellar defense.
A tremendously nice group who appreciates the small victories every week. The Subcoolers play hard and support each other to the fullest. A true Underdog group who win each week, no matter the score.
Fluid Market Strategies, Subcoolers, Therminators, Thunderbats-Indy #1, Yeah, I Hit That!
Pickles and the Ticklers play it Cool, Come Away With a Split.
Not only are the Pickle and Ticklers a great group they played some great softball as well. Led by Captain Luke Anderson, P and T was able to maximize the amount of fun they had over the three hours they spent at Montivillia.
By taking a light-hearted approach they were able to make sure ever person involved in the game played with a smile. Tickler teammates Kendle Deaderick and Derek Breimen played a tough third and pitched very well, however their best skill was making sure their teammates did not take themselves too seriously.
By taking the "Carry a big bat but have a bigger smile" approach to softball P and T prove they are true Underdoggers.
Fluid Market Strategies forfeited to Thunderbats-Indy #1.

Sarah Spafford
Taking one for the team
Determined to be the defensive rock of the infield for her team, Sara Spafford took the field at first base for Yeah, I'd Hit That! with a focused look on her face for the highly anticipated match up against Good Wood. Early in the game Sara took a hard hit ground ball off her foot...anyone who's been hit knows first hand a softball really isn't that soft. Sara knew coming out of the game was not an option...her team needed her to reel in those wild throws all infielders have been known to dish out from time to time. Although Yeah, I'd Hit That! may not have won the game, Sara's fine play at first base & hot bat inspired her team in the Underdog way we've all come to appreciate.
It was double header Tuesday at Montevillia and Dain brought his pitching arm. Throwing most innings of both games Dain was able to keep most hitters off balance and help his team earn a split.
Working the strike zone allowed Dain to limit the runs scored, giving his team every opportunity to come out on top. Dain also helped to lead his team on offense. His multiple run-scoring hits made sure the night was an action packed one. A great all-around effort on a great all-around night.

Avery Anderson
Good Wood
Avery exhibited outstanding plate discipline and swung her way to what turned out to be a victory for Good Wood. She feared nothing and hit everything that came her way. Congrats to Avery for being Player of the Week.
It's not every day that a catcher has such an impact on the outcome of a game. She hustled for anything that was even close to her vicinity. Her entire team had just got back from a Music Festival and apparently kept the party going, taking both games of their playoff doubleheader. Andrea and her team exemplified the underdog spirit. Congratulations.
