Sophia was an incredible wall of defense last night...nothing all night came close to beating her down the third base line. Just an all around great performance from one of Underdog's favorite. Great Job, lady...ya did real good!
Despite playing in her first kickball game ever, Kelsey played like a real pro - locking down first base and catching everything that came her way. To top off an impressive performance, she caught the last out in the bottom of the seventh in a super close game to seal the win for her team. Nice Job Kelsey!
Katie is our player of the week for being awesome. I mean, that's good enough, right? Being awesome? Well, it should be and Katie was just that - completely awesome 100% of the time, Not sure there has been another player before or will be one after as awesome as Katie was on Thursday night. Great job Katie, and keep up the awesome!!!
Kicking Asses lost a close game this week, but it wasn't all about the runs. Scratch the surface and you had a good ol' fashioned pitcher's duel. It was here that Kelly shone. His assortment of off-speed pitches kept opposing kickers off balance, giving his team plenty of lazy fly balls to field. What can I say, the guy's got game. Well done this week, Kelly!
On a very sunny and warm Tuesday night Merino's 2nd base woman Jane Favret disguised herself as just your average kickballer but little did anyone know Jane hid her true identity as the Sun Goddess!
We found that out in the 2nd inning when the ball was kicked straight up in the air at her and she rose her arms to the sky and summoned the ball to her. And the ball followed her every command right down to falling gently into her arms for an amazing catch!
After that catch all on the field realized that we were in the presence of a goddess! NICE CATCH!
It was a weird/different night at Peninsula Park, but the ball and field were still the same. Wii Not Fit didn't have enough players to play, so Drei Streifen would win by forfeit, but it didn't stop'em from playing and having fun. Some players 'jumped ship' to fill the holes for Wii and played just as tough.
Great sportsmanship and playing from both sides. Glad we got a game in, and a good one at that....8-4.

Kicking Asses was at it again against Drei Streifen, running the bases and making plays on defense. It was a fun, well battled game, but Streifen came up dry, thanks in large part to the ladies(kicking asses) stellar D!
Kelly added by keeping the kickers off balance with fastballs and elevation change.Striking out 3 during his complete game, listen to his catcher and being an excellent TEAM player, having fun.
Against better judgement, Mr. Garver is our player of the week. Rumor has it, he went from wearing a suit, to making it to the game to kicking a home run all in a matter of 20 minutes. That kind of dedication to kickball deserves recognition. Great job Garver!!!

Victor Bradley
Pirate's Booty-Indy #1
Pirate's Booty fought a close match with Base Bandits, keeping the score close and changing leads many times in a game that went to 7 innings. One man, one legend of the field really helped make that game more magical in a very special play. Victor Bradley, on a crazy run to the base leaped through the air Swan Lake ballerina style to avoid a red rubber ball whizzing through the air. Great Play Victor!

Greg Donick
The Kicking Asses
You couldn't kick the ball three feet without Greg D. showing up out of nowhere to make a play. Well done, Greg.
It is the end of an era! Allen Matasy, Master of Underdog Kickball and one of our longest tenured players, played his last Underdog game last night. (He should be a first ballot Hall of Famer) But, did Allen leave us thinking about old memories of him "pitching it dirty" or running the bases like a mad man in a speedo? No way! He left us with one more memory as he not only kicked the game tying triple in the bottom of the 7th but also scored the winning run to continue his team's championship hopes. Congratulations on a great game and career, we will all miss you Allen!
Sophia really cleaned house this week. She was a major factor in helping Happy Birthday sweep through the playoffs like a janitor's broom on a parquet gym floor. She was a vacuum at both third base and right field making one clutch catch after another. Her lady bunts were also amazing, landing ever so softly like a hotel maid's feather duster on an oak dresser. Great Job Sophia!!!
