Amanda Salinas got her first taste of Underdog Dodgeball last spring when she came out and played on an Indy team. As with any newbie, the rules take a little time to set in but even from her first game the force was strong in this one.
The rookie took the summer off but has returned this fall not only playing in both Monday and Wednesday Night leagues but has also joined the ranks of a pretty solid crew in the Got Balls? team. Her skill level has increased dramatically and she has become a full fledged USL Dodgeball veteran.
Salinas, a cyclist, rides 4 miles each way to Friendly House. Amanda says she's "in training" for an upcoming event but it's OK Amanda, denial is only the first phase and there's no concealing the hardcore dodgeballer you've become.
So Congrats to Amanda Salinas, our MONDAY NIGHT UNDERDOG DODGEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!
Jon Larson doesn't have much to say when he's on the dodgeball court. Even as the captain of the HAM squad Liz Lewis shouts a couple orders out to him from the sideline, Jon gives her nothing but a nod in response and then takes care of business.
Jon's a good fit on the HAM team, a team known for their sound strategy rather than relying on smack talk and wild throws. Larson is cool, calm, collected and has perfected a no-look, knockout throw that catches his opponents off-guard more often than not.
So Congrats to Jon Larson, your skill but more importantly your STYLE makes you our MONDAY NIGHT DODGEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!
This is Susanna Lai's first season with the HAM squad yet the veteran has been around Dodgeball for a while now and she's got the game to prove it.
Although HAM did have a rough night, their opponents didn't have an easy time claiming victory. In the most intense match-up of the evening, HAM lined up across from an always stellar Balls of Fury team. Lai helped lead the charge and the HAM took an early lead. With multiple crazy catches the veteran kept her team in contention. Staying low and keeping her throws on target Lai showed experience and heads up play trumps all.
While HAM might have come up short on the scoreboard, thanks to Susanna Lai and company they'll never come up short in skill.
So Congrats to Susanna Lai, our UNDERDOG MONDAY NIGHT DODGEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!
In his first season, Tim Beckman didn't have time to learn the ropes. On a team like Make It Rain, a legitimate contender for the Champ Bands, Beckman had to get over any rookie jitters and show up every night in it to win it.
He proved his game had come full circle tonight when Make it Rain lined up against the HAM squad. While the Make it Rain did give the match up, Tim showed what he was made of in a game where he found himself staring across the court from four armed and ready HAM players. As his team shouted for a catch, Beckman kept his eyes forward. He knew he couldn't risk a loss by going out missing a catch through his finger tips. Back to the wall, Beckman kept dodging and kept moving. One-by-one he sniped out the remaining HAM players down to the last one. Like an old Clint Eastwood flick, the air thickened and the suspense grew. Beckman drew back his throwing arm and unleashed a missile that found his target. Game Over. This rookie accomplished tonight what some veterans haven't done in all the seasons under their belt, the "Never say die" comeback win.
So Congrats to Tim Beckman, OUR UNDERDOG MONDAY NIGHT DODGEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!

AWESOME HARDER LEAGUE CHAMPS--They done did it again!
While Awesome Harder has been crowned the League Champs before and they will undoubtedly earn another set of Champ bands in seasons to come, this season wasn't as easy for them as it had been in the past.
Not to be misleading, Awesome Harder consistently imposed their dominance on multiple teams throughout the season but there was definitely a higher level of skill among all teams and players in this season than in Monday Night Leagues of the past.
So as the team-to-beat, what do you do? How does a nearly undefeated team stay so sharp? Most teams would become lax in the comfort of success but not Awesome Harder. When you walk around with a target on you back you really only have two options; succumb to the pressure and become the sitting ducks your opponents have hoped for or, turn the scope around and keep your sights on another championship. Awesome Harder chose the latter.
In a league where blowouts didn't come easy and with very few goose eggs among all teams throughout the season, Awesome Harder played on a level they hadn't touched all season and didn't lose a single game in the playoffs.
So Congrats to Awesome Harder, OUR FALL MONDAY NIGHT DODGEBALL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!
