He was described by one player (Sabrina) as working so hard in the field he was "literally dripping sweat." That is not indicative of the average effort put forth by your every-day-beverage-suckling Underdog athlete, but it tends to indicate a player of the week. Justin was all over left field making diving catches, sprinting after fly balls, and diving just to knock balls down. His play didn't skip a beat at the plate or around the bases either. Justin batted successfully from both sides of the plate and made it around the bases with the speed of a Grizzly Bear and the grace of a thoroughbred. Throw that in with the fact Huevos Grandes snapped the Upper Deckers' 26 game winning streak and you find our player of the week!
with the game on the line eric comes to bat and not to worry, all he does is hit the go ahead run and they hold of bam to win the game. great job eric.
All the best players can do more than just hit, and Preston is no exception. Not only was this hulking beast of a batter a menace to opposing pitching, he also made some outstanding plays at first. Among them: a leaping grab of a line drive, several death defying splits/stretches at first base, and a bevy of other solid plays. Mix that in over a double dip and and two wins and you have the player of the week!
Shane earned POTW this week. He consistently made phenomenal plays in the outfield; he was a terror on the bases; he had multiple hits; and he pulled off the "back first slide" at home. This was all accented by his safety first attitude to protect his "pearly whites" behind the dish by donning the not oft used protective mask. Finally, and most importantly, with the game on the line, Shane stepped to the plate with a chance to win the game and came through with a walk off home run.
Casey was all over the field in his team's double-header, playing well at multiple positions. His best play was a perfect tag-out of a runner sliding into 3rd base. He straddled the bag, caught a laser-throw from the outfield, and dropped his mitt right on the foot of the runner. Perfecto! And he can hit, too! Good games, Casey.
