Ryan was all over the field Monday night. Inside the park home runs and diving catches at short were on display. The guy did everything but crash headfirst into the stands to bloody his Yankee pinstripes. His game is proof that imitating your favorite player’s batting stance can pay dividends. Can't Knock the Hustle

Nik did everything Monday night but sell popcorn. Diving catches, inside the park homeruns, and floating his knuckleball to keep hitters guessing, the guy was a one-man wrecking crew who wasn't afraid to get his uniform dirty. Attention Underdog players: Beware the man who looks like Thom Yorke but plays like Altuve. Nik needs neither trashcans nor hidden wires to make his presence felt!

Don't Even THINK about Hitting it to Short-Stop!

Danielle absolutely locked down the left side of the infield on Monday night. She made the routine plays, the over-the-shoulder grabs, fired rockets to first base, and made diving stops in the hole to rob Ritual Sacrifice of base hits. She's solid at the plate too, spraying hits around the field, and generally wreaking havoc on the basepaths. If you're playing Saved by the Balls, you'd better think before hitting it toward shortstop!

Dickbat Stymies Oddballz to Capture Westmoreland Crown

After a year-off softball, one might wonder if long-time Westmoreland mainstays Dickbat had lost a step...The thought needn't linger...They haven't. Pitching maestro Ben limited Probably Gonna Pull a Muscle and Oddballz to a combined 13 runs over 14 innings - It might not look pretty, but in rec league softball, an 8.36 ERA is bordering on stellar! Eric vacuumed up everything hit his way at shortstop, and Big Bill delivered the clutch, game-winning knock that vaulted Dickbat past a scrappy Probably Gonna Pull a Muscle. Against upstart Oddballz, their experience won out: They caught the ball, they threw the ball on-target, and they hit the ball where defenders weren't. Teams will surely be lining up to knock Dickbat off their throne come summertime at Westmoreland, but on this night, they reign supreme as league champions.

A Title Game so Nice, we Crowned Champions Twice!

I'd Hit That, Saved by the Balls Fight to the End to Share League Trophy

I'd Hit That and Saved by the Balls each outlasted their semi-finals opponents and then engaged in a classic championship showdown. The action started right off the bat, as each team scored five runs in the first inning. After Saved by the Balls had put up 12 runs by the 4th, I'd Hit That held them scoreless for the final three innings, as the score remained deadlocked at 12.

When Saved by the Balls scratched a run across in the 8th inning, I'd Hit That responded right back in the bottom half. With the potential game-winning run at third base and only one out, a ground ball to first base resulted in an unconventional 3-2 double play, with catcher Maggie taking the throw with the runner bearing down and putting the tag on to preserve a tie. As the clock struck 10:45, it was time to shut off the lights and call it a night.

It's not every day that two teams share a championship, but with so much talent on one field and only an hour fifteen to play, for the first post-Pandemic season Monday nights at Westmoreland, that's how things turned out this time. Great playing by both teams!
