Amy showed up week one, with no practice, killed it with 3 RBI's in one game! Stunned, her fellow players sat shocked as she owned most the field. A fan from the stands was overheard saying, "Hey I thought there were no ringers!"

3rd base couch is waving him in. Scott turns on his after-burners and kicks it into high-gear. He rounds third with home plate in his sights only to be greeted by a well-placed throw from the outfield. The ball now in the hands of the catcher, we've got ourselves an old-fashioned run-down! The ball is tossed back and forth like a hot potato until--What's this?! Scott jumped OVER the ball! He scores! He scores!

Hooper'in around
Making plays and catches at 1st and OF, he was covering the field on D. Adding big kicks, but running even more, not stopping and sliding into home, as he went all the way around. Once each game! Covering his teammates, delegating positions and having fun, Chris was doing it all. Nice games.

Emma Mcconnell
Emma Mcconnell
"entirely territorial"
You know sometimes in the heat competition we all get a little crazy. Emma isn't so much crazy as proud if her position. Playing second base like a rabid something or other she pulled down everything that came her way, grounders, pop fly's, small children that had the audacity to wander onto the field. In short she owned her little plot of field all day long. Once when one of the other teams players had the audacity to get to 2nd base, Emma had the ball and was seen glaring at them to see if she could scare em off her base so she could tag em.

In the end the other team got the message and just either tried desperately to keep the ball away from her or run right by 2nd, preferring to suffer a quick out at third rather then hanging around the no mans land of 2nd.

Great job Emma. Thanks for being an Underdog

Karate KICK!
With their pink tees and striped socks, RO-SHAM-BO always comes to play. To our joy, their competitiveness is always out-shined by their friendliness. Commending the opposition on nice kicks and catches, RO-SHAM-BO always has a fair share of amazing plays and kickball acrobatics of their own. This week they even added the "GRUNT", a loud, deep "UUUHHH" noise accompanying their kicks, catches, and heaves. It made us want to say "UUUHHH, Na Na Nana"...

Pitch Perfect.
So in kickball there are a lot of balls right across the plate that are strikes, plenty that are close, and lots of balls, like the pitcher thinks they are gonna brush the kicker off the plate with a wild pitch.

But once in a great while, there is that perfect strike. The strike, that no one in their right mind would think about passing up, but do.

Eric, our player of the week, had just that pitch. So dazzling was it, in spin, speed, height, and over all beauty, that the kicker had little choice but to take the strike, while basking in the magnificence of it all.

Most in attendance agree that our lives our just a little better, stress a little lower, and anxiety a little more manageable having been witness to this stunning display of accuracy and poise.

Thanks, Eric. You're a great guy, good sport, fun to be around, and a spectacular Underdog!

Anything for the game...
Have you ever wanted something so bad that nothing could keep you from it? For Kathryn Doeneka, that something was a play at shortstop to keep runners from advancing. She took one look at that kickball in the air and said, "Oh no, not today my old friend. Today we dance with danger." She advanced steadily, a hunger in her eyes. The ball was tricky: it twisted and turned. Kathryn stumbled. She fell on top of the ball. She wrestled for control, the ball fought back. And after what seemed like an eternity, Kathryn emerged dusty, embarrassed, and victorious. Well fought, Kathryn. Well fought.

Human Target.
It's not like people are actually magnets for stuff, right? RIGHT?! Well our player of the week Claire Rothstein might disagree. Claire plays third base for Blue Sky and the Devils, and she plays it well.

What's singularly fascinating is the absurd amount of crushing line drives she gets sent her way. It's like she has a bulls eye painted on her and a flashing neon sign above her head saying "I dare you to try and knock me down."

Most sane, rational human beings would just switch positions. But not Claire, she just hangs in there and gets better every game.

For all you players out there that are watching that neon sign or seeing a bulls eye, best you aim elsewhere, cause this player is not letting much get past now days. Better to choose an easier target. You might hit your target, but with Claire's ability at third base, you might not like the results.

Congrats Claire. Your a great third baseman, and a fantastic Underdog.

Now I think it is safe to say that everyone enjoys a player who is determined to crush the ball out of the park. Piseth went above and beyond the call of duty for his team when he was up to bat. His warrior grunt every time he kicked the ball was what got the team's juices flowing. That extra few yards he got with his grunt did wonders for him and his team. Piseth, thank you for your warrior call that got the momentum rolling!

Casey Peters
Casey Peters
Carhart Warrior.
1st off it will help immensely if you read this with the voice of that guy from the old NFL Films on HBO in your head....ready...go...

On a balmy 82 degree, Portland Oregon day in Colonel Summers Park, Casey " Look out in the cheap seats" Peters girded him self in Carharts (wait? Is that right? Carharts?...Well OK) and took the field of battle for a playoff showdown of epic proportions. Foregoing the advice of the legends before him on wearing appropriate athletic attire, Casey performed the unthinkable in what may go down in Carhart history. Fielding, kicking, and running bases with an un-humanlike disregard for chaffing and fashion, the Carhart Warrior led his team to a monstrous rally against an Indy Team favorite.

Fatigued and in need of Gold Bond, Casey showed why he is such a great sport and a fantastic Underdog. Congrats Casey. And good luck in the rest of the play offs.
