Opening night at Gabriel Park, and Pound it made it look anything but that. Playing tough D and scoring runs, they would win their first game. Lauren contributed BIG, making several catches at 1st and a sweet scoop-pitch grounder to first for the out. Having fun and adding rki's, she was on. Nice game!

Suzy Le Bel
If at first you don't succeed...
Be like Suzy and try again. Suzy played third the entire game and big rubber balls zoomed her way right and left (and up and down). There were a couple hiccups at first, but come the seventh inning Suzy made one play after another, ending the game with a great fly ball catch! To top it off, she came in second in the "tallest on the team" contest. Way to go Suzy; you're our insurance superstar!
Making plays all over the field, but doing most of his damage as pitcher Jeff was doing it. Keeping the wrist straight, using great form, he K'd a few kickers. Making jokes and having fun, it was a nice game. Good stuff.
Bring your uterus!
Pitch Slap
Cause Pitch Slap is going to neuter this! With a team motto like that, how could we not go with Pitch Slap as the team of the week! Decked out in wigs, tutus and headbands to match their perfectly pink shirts, Pitch Slap came to play this week. Happy heckles, toe kicks galore, even their foul balls were amazing this week. They took the poison (balls being thrown at them) in stride and played their best game of the year to date. You can rest assured anytime Pitch Slap takes the field the girls are going to bring it and the guys are going to zing it!

Joe Kurth
Pitch Slap
Joe! We love you Joe! his team chanted after the final out of the game. Yes, bases were loaded, yes Joe was up to bat, yes this was a great opportunity for a rally starting grand-slam......and as the ball was pitched the anxiety was high. Joe approached the plate with confidence. He was waiting for this perfect pitch. The crowd cheered and his teammates leaned against the chain link backstop hoping for Joe's moment of glory. His back swing was big, his positioning was perfect, his foot swung with the speed of a mongoose and the quickness of a cat. Whoosh! the ball skipped off his foot for strike 2. "you're out" called the ump. Everyone sighed...then began to change "we love you Joe!".

Jeff Lin
Pound It
Here at Underdog we love it when our players have fun. Jeff Lin of Pound it brought the game to a whole new level when he brought his culinary education to the field for his team with some delicious snacks. Way to go "Chef" Lin!

David McCurry
Grasskickers
OHHHH Canada we stand on guard for thee!! David sure did. While representing Canada, rockin some bright mix matched tube socks, and sticking a feather in his hat as a reminder of last weeks win, David played with sticky hands in left center. He couldn't drop a ball if he tried.

Liking Big Bunts
He's ALL over'em
It was a tight played game, with great defense by both sides. It was 0-0 til the 4th when Mayhem poured on 6 runs and never looked back. Jake was doing his thing from both sides of the plate. Giving up 0 earned runs from the mound, added 3 base kicks and plating a few in . Making plays and having FUN! Nice game.
Keith "Braun" Buisman was suspended tonight after testing positive for being AWESOME! It was a long road paved with hard work, a positive attitude, and syringes. Keith was one of the bright faces of kickball tonight. Yes, he may have elevated levels of testosterone and that may have helped him make nearly every play on the field tonight but we love him regardless of his performance...it's his great attitude that earned him player of the week this week.

Styling Junkie
Pitch grabbing
Playing catcher all night, making plays and 'looking good' with his styled shirt, while doing it. Having fun, laughing and making me laugh almost every inning, Jon was on it. Though a few throws were high, they weren't intended and nobody was hurt. Adding kicks and hustling, it was a nice game, by both sides.

Derrick Mayberry
Hard Shockers
Derrick, the captain of the Hard Shockers did what no other human could have done tonight. He managed to lead his team of adults, multiple dogs, and 4 toddlers from the far off land of Lake Oswego directly after work. His time arrived on time and enjoyed a beautiful night of kickball at Gabriel Park. Thank you Derrick for all you do for the Hard Shockers.

Manuel Arceo
Recess Junkies
Manny stepped up to the plate, cleared the dirt from under his feet, and eyed a gap in right center field. As the ball baby bounced from the pitchers hand the catcher from "pound it" snuk up on Manny. Manny approached the ball and just before he kicked, the "pound it" catcher gave Mannys shorts a quick tug. With his shorts at his knees, Manny managed to kick a double! Mannys excellent focus out there tonight and his light hearted approach to the game earn him the player of the game.
It might not have started close, but it's how you finish. Mayhem had a 6-0 lead through 2 innings, but slowly let runs trickle in over the next 5. Anthony was doing his part to stop'em from scoring more. Making a few plays at 2nd base and saving the other teams base coach, with a 'heads up'.. Talking, having fun and calling out ALL the man bunts, he was 'in' the game. Nice game and good season Shockers
Normally it's perfectly acceptable to run from 3rd base to home on a long kick to right center field.....but not when Keith has his sling shot of a right arm warmed up. Keith was focus and determined to keep the winning run from crossing the plate. With 1 out in the bottom of the 7th inning, a Fly Lyce kicker booted a ball deep to right center field. The runner on third base got the nod and was directed by the 3rd base coach to run home. Out of nowhere came a laser beam from Keith Buisman. In the air, without a bounce, Keith hit the fly lyce runner in the hip from deep right center to save the winning run from crossing the plate. Both teams cheered! That was fun to watch.
Tyler has it all. He's very friendly, he's always smiling, he's one step ahead of any ball kicked his direction, and he's on base nearly every inning. If we could clone a player...Tyler, you would be the master copy. Thank you for playing kickball the way it's meant to be played. Congratulations, you are the player of the wek.
