Phoebe Adams
Phoebe Adams
JTT
This week's Player of the Week is JTT's Phoebe Adams. This young lady is not a Jonathan Taylor Thomas lover like most 90s survivors, but a butt kickin', birthday celebratin' grass volleyball player. Phoebe celebrated her birthday by crushing balls at Oregon Park with her team mates, and leading her team to a 3-0 victory against her opponents. She brought a glimpse of summery sunshine to the park with her festive peach sorbet tank, and brought some serious Birthday Thunder to the match with her quick feet, her hard serves, and a bubbly attitude larger than the hair of a Texas redhead in a beauty pageant. That's what makes the Birthday Girl this week's Player of the Week! Congratulations Phoebe!

We Bring the Party
We Bring the Party
Calling the Ringer
Everyone has heard the phrase "The party don't start till I walk in."
Team Grassy Balls took that to another level by proving the party don't start till WE walk in.
They showed up with the family coming out to support their crew. With every play, the fans were cheering, clapping and just having a great time!
Rob Smith made the best comment of the night when he said ....."Ok guys, we have given them all their points so far." This was the best obvious comment anyone has ever made, but he said it with a grin on his face full of laughter.
What really set the tempo for this game was during the Ro-Sham-Bo. It went 1-2 and then Grassy Balls pulled out and decided to call in the ringer to finish the shot out. It proved to be a good call because they ended up winning the Ro-Sham-Bo and the celebration began.
One thing is for sure, Grassy Balls knows how to have a good time and for that we give them the Team of the Week Award. Congratulations.

Couple of the Week
Couple of the Week
Under-doggers
This week we are going to change it up a bit and give an award that has never been given before. This is a true Underdog success story that will bring tears to your eyes.
We give a special congratulations to John Doherty and Phoebe Adams. These two amazing players are the kind of players that every team seeks after, but it is not because their level of play, even though they are very athletic. They are sought after because of their attitudes and class that they show towards all. Everyone seems to love them and why not. They are the kind of people where a smile is always shinning bright on their faces.
Not only that but they meet each other through Underdog a while back and are now engaged to be married later this month. Two great players will now join as one and have little Under-doggers. If that is not love, I don't know what is. Just another success story at Underdog....this time about love. For that, we give John and Phoebe from team JTT the Couple of the Week Award. Congratulations and all the happiness that comes!

Mike Rushing
Mike Rushing
JTT
This week's Player of the Week is JTT's Mike Rushing. Mike came prepared to play with his own secret weapon: Koa, the most adorable Boston Terrier/French Bulldog mix. While Koa ran distraction, Mike took advantage and crushed it in the front row. Mike brought more game than the Parker Brothers with his epic hops, excellent ball placement, and great team spirit while battling his tough opponents. Congratulations!

Endless Laughs
Endless Laughs
Give me 20!
This week we give the player of the week to someone that has been with USL for a long time, but that is not the reason why he gets the award.
Tracy Benson from Shaggin' Balls proved he was worthy of the award this week for many reasons. He is possibly the only person that has ever been injured playing Cornhole. Despite his injury he was still out there playing volleyball in the grass and sharing the good times and laughter.
Lindsey, his teammate, tripped over the lines, that was more humorous than anything because it was a slow motion trip like the Matrix. Tracy then ran over there and tapped her right up with the imaginary tape. He was about to perform CPR while they were all laughing, but the imaginary tape magically healed Lindsey.
After the laughter ceased Tracy was on the sidelines talking to a fan and next thing you know he makes that fan do push ups.....needles to say he wasn't a fan of Shaggin Balls anymore as he jumped ship to the other team.
For this great time and endless amounts of laughter, we give Tracy Benson the Player of the Week Award. Congratulations and hold that award high with the injured hand from Cornhole!

Instant Party
Instant Party
Ohh.....Aww
Oregon Park Thursday Volleyball brought out the fans to have a good time and cheer for their team. Team JTT played their playoff game against Spike n' Ikes. JTT found themselves down, but once their fans showed up, their spirits were at a high.
Lawn chairs, coolers and cheers were the theme of the 10+ fans that came out to share in the game. It was an instant party as the fans ohhed and awed on every play. This of course brought a smile to everyone's face as the players ran to dig the ball.
Despite of JTT's loss in the playoffs, all fans and all players had the right attitude with great sportsmanship and laughs.
So we give the Team of the Week Award to JTT for bringing out the fan party and the good times.

National Anthem
National Anthem
Keep Rockin'
Inspired by the Olympics, Lisa Kent said "I want to sing the National Anthem before the championship game!"
In the semi final game it was a close battle and everyone was having fun, but no one was having more fun than Lisa. She would look over to fans and say "21-21, This is so exciting!"
The game ended up going to the other team 25-24, but despite the loss, she had a happy smile on her face the whole time. Her team didn't advance to the finals, but Lisa kept good on her word and sang the National Anthem. When she wrapped it up there was a thunderous cheer and clapping from all that were there.
Her team might not have advance to play in the championship game, but Lisa Kent is a champion with her great attitude and game play....not to mention her awesome voice. She stated "The other sport I play is karaoke."
Keep rocking Lisa as she gets the Player of the Week Award. Congratulations.
