Notes

First Place

Winter Co-Ed Futsal at SE PDX Courts Wednesdays

From week one to the playoffs (and we can only assume outside of Underdog as well) this was a squad that really brought it. And by brought it, we mean creative costumes mixed with a friendly attitude and some Futsal skills to boot. From butt rockers to truck drivers to superheros, The Seven Deadly Shins brightened our Wednesday nights with flair.

That flair was also seen on the court. They worked as a team and it showed as they held onto two close matches to wrap up the championship. With great passing and some nifty footwork they managed to use the beauty of the game to play a style that kept it clean and quick. It was this style that set them apart... along with the sexy wigs and bandannas.

With their win came a gift certificate to the new house bar at The Courts and the teams fun and friendly attitude spilled over into everyone's pitchers as they bought a round for each team that stayed to enjoy the night. It is this kind of spirit on and off the court that makes Underdog a special place to play. Thanks to The Seven Deadly Shins for being truly the best kind of winners!

DWTS Chooses TSDS Player!

Jose to take his dancing from court to stage

BREAKING NEWS: Yes, we thought we already saw the cast of Dancing With the Stars announced, but there has been a new late late addition and it is straight out of the Underdog Futsal League!

After his performance last night on the court, Jose Gutierrez, has been chosen for the show. We have known about his skills since week one but we are very happy that millions of viewers will now be graced with his fancy feet.

Don't let the knee brace and funny costume fool you, this guy can dance his way through defenders with ease. The ball and futsal court are his medium and his feet are the artists. Watch next time, because it is truly a beautiful picture they paint each match.

Rumor is the coaches at the show are already thrilled about his talent. It will just be a matter of taking the ball out the equation but we have faith that no matter what the outcome on the show Jose will always catch our eyes with his fantastic footwork here at The Courts!

Polite Person in Purple Pants

A short(s) story

Not many people are going to get points for disrobing in this league and for that matter in any league. Honestly, we highly encourage our players not to do this, but this was a different case.

Halfway through the first half of the game against Foot Clan Bridget noticed something funny. She kept getting the ball. Great pass after great pass continued to be serviced her way, setting up her teams attack. Then she looked down.

Purple pants. Yup it was the pants. In costume, Seven Deadly Shins did not really have a color this week but Foot Clan were wearing their classic purple. Well, so was Bridget, at least her pants were purple. After realizing the cause of her great fortune Bridget did something that epitomizes Underdog Sports (and no that was not taking her clothes off, come on guys), she politely did what was best for the game. And yes okay fine, she did take her pants off, but more importantly Bridget threw away her advantage and stuck to just her soccer shorts, making it much easier for Foot Clan to tell where their own players were, creating a much more fair and equal match, with a lot less confusion for them and us (the three blind refs).

Thank you Bridget, not for dropping trow, but for playing fair and being the polite person in purple pants! You amethyst! (Get it cause it should be You Rock, but I said a purple rock to go with the purple theme! Ha!)
