Tom O'Toole of The Claw perfectly demonstrated how important passion and dedication is to the game of kickball with a diving catch, putting his body on the line. Sacrificing his own body for the greater good of the team, Tom O'Toole helped The Claw to a hard fought 18-13 win on Sunday at Col. Summers Park
On a day of numerous pulled leg muscles and collisions in the outfield one player stands out. Darren Shaad of The Claw sacrificed his mind, body, and soul for a deep fly ball. Unfortunately another player on his team happened to be going for the same fly ball.
As a result, their bodies slammed into each other with the force of two Mack Trucks and gradually peeled off of each other like a banana skin. Everyone’s jovial attitudes quickly went into shock mode but Darren and his teammate bounced back up and shook off the hit. I can only imagine how they feel today.
For your grace and ability to shake off a hit that would send others to the hospital, Darren has earned the award for player of the week.
