Players of the Week

Mar 7 - Mar 19

Ellen

Must Love Digs

Player of the week goes to Ellen, what an incredible couple of matches! In game one she dug her team out of a hole with a miraculous serving streak forcing the game to go into overtime. Her serves were low and deep with a bit of a float, making them difficult to pass and the perfect way to get back in the game. In games two and three Ellen strategically placed spikes in the deep corners and kept up her consistent serving. Not only did she make some great volleyball plays night but she showed off her dance moves throughout the game. Thank for coming out and having a good time, awesome game!

Kristi Williams

Bump Life

Kristi is ready for any ball she’s following the flow of the volley so well that she’s ready to receive the ball at any moment. Kristi’s got the perfect volume and call to let her teammate know if the ball is in or out. She’s highfiving her teammate for awesome moves and encouraging them when down. Kristi is down to play, she stayed for almost another hour to play a another game. What awesome sportsmanship!

Shay Huskey

Multiple Scoregasms

Shay came to play! Some players have off nights on the court. Some players have rocking nights on the court. But tonight Shay was beyond rocking it with his team on the court! Give him a set, any set, and you can count on him to put it away! And when he wasn’t at the net he was ready to get scrappy and play on, no matter where the ball was flying out of the court! Not only that but he keeps encouraging his team the whole time, through every play! The whole team just had an awesome energy tonight! Congrats on being the player of the week Shay! Keep it up!

Hollis Colburn

New Team, Who Dis? - Indy #V6

Hollis fought hard in every point. She had great ups off of hard hits and kept the spirit up the whole game!

April Huggler - The woman with an unstoppable volleyball force

How I Set Your Mother?? Not the only team she's limited too

April showed up to the courts ready to play for her 8 o'clock game with her team but before their game even started she walked up and volunteered to fill in on any teams in the next hour that was short any personnel. After April's teams game was over she hung around and in fact found another team to play on for the next hour! The other team was very welcoming to her and April still gave full effort with a great attitude after being tired from the game before. She was a great sport and really spread her love of volleyball during the whole two hours of play.

Jennifer Clark

Spiked Punch

Jennifer is Player of the Week, this week (and every week) Jennifer shows her team and competitor what true sportsmanship is and and has embodied the Underdog spirit. Her presence electrifies the gym, and it's not just because of the teams safety orange colored jersey, and her matching neon shoes and tall socks. Jennifer encouraged and cheered on her teammates through each play even after the game had been decided. Thanks for your positive attitude and sharing your joy for volleyball with others.

Alexander Lemke

Bump Up the Jam

While this game was a forfeit against AAF, players from both teams mixed it up to scrimmage and make the most of their hour. Alex took initiative and joined players from AAF to make fair squads. His energy was delightful, quickly making friends with those on AAF and helping to form a team dynamic that could compete against the complete Bump Up the Jam group. There was a lot of laughter, yelling, and friendly banter that added to the experience. Along with his great spirit, Alex proved to be a dominant force on the court. With killer serves, tough digs, great ball placement, and unstoppable spikes, Alex showed his skills as a great volleyball player. Great job tonight Alex, and great job to Bump Up the Jam and AAF!

"Hale" to the Chief!

Volley Llamas - Indy #V8

What an incredible night for Tara Hale of the Volley Llamas on Thursday at St. Charles. She is the Queen of the Court and the one who gets the job done. The Volleys were in an intense matchup with Bump Life and looking to break the games open with some sort of magic. Tara came in and did just that, providing great defense from back row and then capping off Game 3 with continuous service points to take the win by 2 in a come from behind victory. She was the unanimous choice for POTW by not only yours truly, but teammates and opponents alike. Tara's who you want on your side when you need CLUTCH!

Samuel Cheek

Hand Stuff

Just call him Single Hand Sam! Sam played in back to back games but that didn't slow him down. He made one save after another sprinting to the back of the court, sliding and throwing a single hand out to put the ball back in the middle of the court for a teammate to place it over the net. In thee championship game he went wide for another incredible save to get the ball over the net for a kill. Not only did Sam have amazing plays throughout the game, he has consistent in his serves and setting up his team for success. His sportsmanship shined after Hand Stuff lost the first game of the Championships. He cheered and encouraged the team, they came back and took home the win. Way to go Sam!

Blake Gordon

Indy #V14

Great game tonight by Blake. He was going after each ball and was ready to support his teammates. On and off the court he cheers his teammates. Blake encourages his teammates and celebrates with them on successful move. Teammates like Blake are important to boosting team moral, keep up the positivity.
