Wednesday night softcore volleyball is always exciting but the championship game was enthralling until the last point. Both Spit It Out and The Strays had a strong season but S.I.O came into the finals undefeated. Both teams were stoked to have made it to the bitter end and The Strays were more than warmed up after having played twice already that night. The Strays came in confident fresh off a win and took the first match in a fury of kills and serves. Kami and Dustin cranked out some power-laden hits while Beth, Brad and Jeremy kept the gym steamy with athleticism. Rina also served up some daunting spikes and wicked overhand serves. S.I.O came back in the next match fueled by James' consecutive aces and rockin' kills. Erin's underestimated underhand serves brought down the house while Chris Reddy brought his game (and awesome wardrobe) as he tore up the net and helped his team rack up the points. Denee played with glowing enthusiasm (and for two). Kelly reminded us how precise a hit can be and continued to kill it in the last game while Tim kept the juices flowing with his punishing spikes. Both teams played hard until the last point but S.I.O came out victorious with the final win. Everyone seemed proud but "Reddy" to drink. Afterward, and a couple pitchers in, both S.I.O and The Strays contemplated merging teams for one monster-unstoppable team but perhaps they will meet again on opposing sides of the court. Stay tuned for more volleyball shenanigans next season!
Denee not only plays her heart out with gusto but also does it while pregnant, 'nuf said! POW!
