Playoffs always bring a wave of seriousness and extraordinary play. All the teams have had a great time throughout this season, but the fun is over because tonight is playoffs!!! The only costumes tonight were mean game faces!
The top four teams faced off tonight and no one was going down without a fight! Swingers 2 took on Bumping Uglies in court 1 and Girl Boy Drink (GBD) battled against We R Slammin (WRS) on Court 2. Swingers 2 are familiar with the playoff experience, so they were ready to play, but Bumping Uglies also wanted to get to the final game. There was some amazing scrappy back and forth play. The Swingers took game 1, but Bumping Uglies clinched game 2 with the help of Justin's amazing body maneuvering at crucial points of the game. Swingers kept level headed and covered the floor well to help them take game 3 and move on to the Championship. Court 2 had similar high pressure play. Katie was rocking her power serve and was working the dumps even if she was playing in jeans. Carl and Sefton teamed up as a wall at the net and GBD just couldn't come back. WRS took the match in two, but both games were back and forth with only a couple point spread throughout the games.
A lot of grunting and sweating took the final teams to the Championship. Swingers 2 and WRS were matched against each other and ready to show off their skills. WRS was coming in as the underdog and they were ready to prove themselves a worthy contender. Both sides had some big hits tonight, but even more impressive were the digs off these power hits. WRS came out to a quick lead at 14-6 and it really seemed to rattle Swingers 2. Margaret kept swinging and serving tough and Brian & Rachel helped with their smooth passing. WRS was relentless and keep powering through, not giving Swingers 2 time to adjust their play. Dave Knox knew they needed to get fired up, but not even Tyler's pass turned to basketball shot could rally them. Game 1 went to WRS. Casey had a great serving comeback in game 2 bringing it to 22-21 helping swingers 2 take the second game. There were some great rallies in the third game, but Swingers kept coming up short. Seated as third coming into this evening WRS really brought the heat tonight! Swingers couldn't hang on as WRS pulled ahead for a final score of 25-16. Congratulations everyone to a great season!
