Westside Softcore Summer Co-ed Kickball Sundays at Gabriel

Dani stepped up to play this week! With the game still close Dani stepped up to the plate and surveyed the field. Se stared down the pitcher and pictured herself kicking the red out of that kickball - and that she did! With a long fly ball to left field Dani managed to kick it over the fielders head and ran straight towards first base with no every intention of making the most out of her awesome power. As she rounded second you could tell her eyes were getting big with the anticipation of what might be. Her teammates cheered her on and were yelling for her to make it home as she rounded third base. With no play at home Dani made it in safely and into the arms of her adoring fans! Way to go Dani, that was one heck of a shot!

When Drunk and Looking needs a sub they don't go to craigslist or facebook, no. They phone up the one person who could unite a team like no other. Mom. She didn't bring orange slices or capri suns, but she did contribute meaningful at bats getting on base a number of times! Way to rock the Mom strategy team!

Phil and Rebecca win honors of Player of the Week this week but not for anything that happened on the field - unless of course that's where they met for the first time! For some odd reason they decided to put kickball second in their lives to some little thing such as a wedding - their own that is. Unfortunately they (along with the rest of the team) won't be able to participate in playoffs because they're getting married on that day. But fortunately they've found something that makes themselves happier than kickball can (VERY hard to do!) - they've found each other. Note: This is where you're supposed to cry in joy for their happiness and the sappiness of what I just wrote.

Nicole was one of the first players to show up to the field today and was ready to fight it out in the championship game...except for one thing. She quickly realized that her flip flops were not sufficient footwear for a kickball game and had forgotten her shoes at home. All the mental and physical preparation for a battle was almost lost due to an equipment issue! Luckily a teammate of hers showed up with a pair of extra cleats in her car and it was a saving grace since Nicole also sparked a key play by kicking in two runs to help Kenny Powers take the trophy.
