Summer Midcore/Softcore Kickball at Sewallcrest Park Sundays

This week's Player of the Week (POTW) doesn't go to just one person. When Spaceballs 4: May the Fourth Be With You comes back from a 9-2 deficit in the bottom of the 7th to win, the POTW has to go to the entire team for their amazing team effort. With a barrage of kicks, bunts, aggressive base running, effort, skill and just plain awesomeness Spaceballs did the near impossible this week.

A lot of teams will bring their outfielders in when a female is up to bat and they're expecting a bunt. The Honey Badgers learned that's a horrible idea with deep kicker Stephanie up to kick! With the bases loaded the defense was expecting a bunt - maybe towards first base - to score at least one run. Stephanie had different thoughts. A line-drive long boot down the first base side over the infielders heads and past the right fielder scored three runs as Stephanie had a solid triple. But she wasn't satisfied with a bases loaded triple. She rounded third with the determination to make it home for the Grand Salami. Unfortunately for her the defense made perfect relay throws to home plate to tag her out. Still, no team should underestimate Stephanie's kicking ability ever again!

Hot Mess might have finished their game by winning 4-3 but they weren't finished playing. By playing we mean dancing and partying at the picnic table in deep right field. You couldn't go five minutes the rest of the night without seeing them practice their moves and groves like the pros they are.
