When the tips are down, team captain of NG14 Ashan Perea gets it going. Playing in a double header on opening Thursday night at St. Charles, Ashan got his fingers moving and ready for the softest and most accurate tip action we've seen in a long time. Able to gently send the ball directly to the floor is his specialty and all were amazed at the way he can sense his placement. This is particularly effective when he ends an intense volley with a quiet send down tip. So we'll tip our hats to this week's POTW, Ashan, for being the Tipsy King!
Sets on Sets on Sets are a formidable force week in and week out. But there's a little edge that comes into play when teammate Rene Kaza is on the court. He's got an eagle eye on the ball that never waivers and results in eye-popping plays that have to be seen to believe. This guy is a monster at the net and on Thursday at St. Charles, delivered some crazy attacks for killing effect and defensive blocking with great timing. Rene's a great setter too - likely the reason they're called Sets on Sets on Sets! The Sets were able to stave off a good run by the other Sets - Sets on the Beach - for a 3-0 "set" win. And Rene's defense was the key!
There are so many things that can be said about the fine folks of Notorious D.I.G. - Indy #V45. For one, what great attitudes! They support each other, cheer on and compliment their opponents, and do it all with a smile. They had a tough match against CC7D, but never gave up. They had some great hustle plays, tight saves at the net, and one can't forget the epic serving delivered by their Captain Nick Snyder. This team is a joy to watch, and they truly embody the spirit of Underdog in the way they play, and the energy they bring to the court. Way to go Indys!
Notorious D.I.G. was $$$. Compiled of 7 valuable assets they played a double header barely breaking a sweat. During their first game, they rallied back with harmonious 3 touch connections. In their second game, they covered the desert zones and attacked with stealthy spikes. They were on one!!!
Josh was "hustling and bustling" for 3 arguably competitive sets. His team awarded him MVP. He had quick touches and power serves. He was the initiator to multiple deep rallies and kept his team in it to win it. Undoubtedly, Josh was exceptional from start to finish.
Sets on the Beach forfeited to Notorious D.I.G. - Indy #V45.

Nicole from Notorious D.I.G. is Player of the Week! She was super scrappy and was hustling all over the court, reading every single hit and tip from the opposing team. She was calling the ball and communicating with her teammates when setting. Have you seen so many beautiful back sets? Congratulations to Nicole!!!
