Back after a brief hiatus from Sewallcrest, C&C Kickball Factory returned with a bang on opening day. Armed with their stereo, C&C marched their way to a Week 1 victory behind the strong pitching of Brie Thurn aka Supergirl. Whether it was her no-nonsense pitching, her quick hands to snare line drives, or her intimidating walk up to the plate (to Salt N Pepa's "Shoop" no less), Brie brought her A game when the C&C kids needed it the most.

Bottom of the 7th. It Burns When I Kick has lost their large lead to Spaceballs 9: We've Gone Plaid. The momentum has swung away from the "burners"...

But, just then, runners get on base. Tension rises. "Sticky Ricky" Zepeda steps up the plate. What happens next is fodder for inspirational DIsney movies... Zepeda "punches" one into left-center and It Burns When I Kick walk-off with their first win at Sewallcrest. The crowd rejoices. Hugs are shared. For a brief moment in time, everything seems great in the world...

Travis brought his "A" game this week. Not only was he statistically a machine (6 for 7, 1 HR), but he was sporting a nautical captain's hat. What really sets Travis aside this week was his willingness to stick around and give advice and encouragement to the other teams. It's this kind of sportsmanship and positivity that makes Sewallcrest the place to be on Sundays.

John Christiansen, aka The Silver Panther was a clutch player today at Sewallcrest Park. John came to in to play with a hat made out of Underdog wristbands, a boombox that could hang from the fence, and a great attitude that made him a pleasure to play with and against on the field. John brought spirit, class, fun and excitement to the park, all things that Underdog Sports League loves to see. Great job John, hope to see more Silver Panther action soon!

Tanya came ready to rock Sunday at Sewallcrest, bringing some hustle, some athleticism, but mostly the fun. Point and case? How about booty-dancing pre-at bat to Jimi Hendrix. How about giving celebratory hugs to her opponents for the day. Tanya not only made the game fun for everyone involved, she also played a key role in Scorehouse's come from behind win. In the final inning of the game with just a few outs left to go it all of a sudden got extremely quiet. That is of course except for Sean who decided it would be a good time to express, "My penis hurts", to one of his teammates on the bench. Of course it wasn't loud enough for the entire field to hear but it was loud enough to get a few laughs within earshot. Here's hoping that getting Player of the Week will help ease some of that penis pain you're having Sean...if not, seek professional attention.

Yes, Theo Wahr or "Moose Knuckles" as his team affectionately calls him is indeed a Wild Card. You never know which Theo will show up on game day. There's the Theo that drops easy pop ups to end an inning... and there's the Theo that somehow, someway snares one of the hardest line drives in Underdog history to end a playoff game. The only things you can bank on with "Moose" is that he'll be smiling the entire game, and he will get dirty sliding into a base, even if it's not necessary.

Finally... a championship!
The Ball Kickers
Always a bridesmaid but never a bride can no longer be attributed to The Ball Kickers after braving the muddy Sewallcrest playoffs and coming out victorious. Andre Bouchard led by example in this season's playoffs, showing aggression on the basepaths and trusting in his defense to backup his pitching. Being the team captain and the field general is no easy task, but Andre rallied his troops through a late push by No Touching, and in the end, The Ball Kickers get to savor the sweet taste of a league championship.
