They've long exhibited the kind of general wackiness that truly defines the spirit of Underdog, but as of late, wins have been hard to come by for Canada?. Opening day at Col.Summers/Sewallcrest was a different story though. After laboring through the first few innings, Canada? turned on the jets, using some aggressive baserunning and some heady defense to pull ahead and start the new season undefeated. Keep it up, eh?

Resilience is a word not often used in kickball, but The Nevernudes brought their resiliency Sunday at Col. Summers. After jumping out to a big lead on Canada?, The Nevernudes absorbed a ferocious comeback from the Big Lebowski dressed Canada? and used some aggressive baserunning and some pinpoint kick accuracy to stay undefeated. Tobias Funke would be proud of your jean shorts guys!

We usually like to spread the love...
But it's really hard not to recognize the best costumes of the season (so far). Canada? came dressed in full force today. Colonel Summers was graced with mermaids, fairies, princesses and Disney characters galore. Snow white pitched a complete game and two versions of Jasmine (Aladdin) frolicked throughout the field - this may have been the norm had each of these characters not been guys. Softcore is going to need to step up their game if they're going to compete with these amazingly dressed kickers!

Queen of the bunts.
OK, we all know no Munts (man bunts) ever. You woman types get to do them. Some of you are ok, some of you are pretty good and then we have Elizabeth "Boom Boom" Ebensteiner.

This lady is ridiculous. You know she is gonna do it just by the way she stands right on the plate. You know she's right footed cause she kicks that way every time. And you know where it's going.....AND SHE STILL SMOKES THE OTHER TEAM EVERY TIME!

You can't prepare for this woman. She will burn you every time and let you watch her dust as she crosses first. She should be teaching classes on bunting. Eventually the catchers out of sheer exhaustion just give up and let her have knowing their mortal efforts are futile against her machine like abilities.

We love ya Elizabeth. You're a great sport, hell of a player and a great example of the kind of person we want representing underdog. Congrats. And take it easy on these boyz, we have fragile egos.

Wasted Canada?
By now, we all know of the kids from Canada? and their creative exploits. Wasted Talent begged for practically 3 years to get this game on the schedule, and voila! when it happened it was magic... on so many levels.

Beginning the game in full Canada gear (Canadian tuxedos, flannel hats, maple leafs everywhere), Wasted Talent led us in a rousing rendition of the Canadian National Anthem, and then proceeded to set a new Underdog record by giving up over 100+ runs this season. Most teams would be sad about this, but the kids from Wasted Talent (or Wasted Canada on this day) were over the moon.

Underdog Kickball isn't about winning or losing, it's about gathering with your friends and having a good time. No one did this better today than Wasted Talent.

Drunk Again & Looking to Score
After winning their first round game on Sunday, Drunk Again and Looking to Score were matched up with the #2 seeded Gang Green. Not an enviable task, but Drunk Again jumped out to a 1-0 lead and put together one of the most complete defensive games of the season, carrying that lead into the bottom of 7. As Gang Green mounted their comeback, tying the game at 1, a short blooper into RF looked like the game winner... until Drunk Again made the play of the day and threw "JoMo" out at first, causing the force and negating the run! Amazing team effort from Drunk Again!
