It came down to four teams for tonight's playoffs. It was anyone's game and everyone wanted it bad! All the teams knew they had two matches tonight but it didn't stop them from laying everything out in the first match. The evening started with Bumping Uglies taking on Good Game No Name on Court 1 and Rusty Everything sizing up against Perfect Strangers on Court 2.
Good Game no Name came to play and it looked like Bumping Uglies was going to get the brunt of it. The first game, Good Game was everywhere and had Bumping Uglies running. It appeared that Good Game was home free, but the Bumping Uglies used their serving as their best weapon to tie the game up and snatch up the second game. It came down to a face off. Bumping was using their double block and getting the ball to the ground, but Good game played every ball even when it didn't look possible and clinched the match with a third game win!
Perfect Strangers had the fire in their bellies knowing that their previous match up resulted in a sweep but Rusty Everything wasn't planning on letting up. Perfect Strangers kept it close in the first game and made Rusty work for every point, but it wasn't enough and Rusty took the game 25-21. It seemed in the second game that Rusty found all the holes and brought the heat taking the second game with no trouble. This meant Rusty was moving on, but not before Perfect Strangers won the third game with some amazing Jump Serves. Could it be that Rusty could be defeated?
It game down to Rusty Everything and Good Game no Name. Good Game hadn't matched up with Rusty yet, but they had heard the rumors and they knew they were in for a difficult game! Good game started off ripping the ball and setting up solid blocks like I have never seen them do before. Rusty got temporarily frazzled and the scores got tight, but Rusty stayed composed and got the 25-22 win. The second game Rusty found their grove again and even with playing one man down they made covering the floor look effortless. Good Game hung in there as they watched their championship dreams slip away. The night ended with Rusty clinching the 2008 Champ Title and some tasty Mississippi Pizza! It was great seeing everyone improve so much over the season while having some awesome underdog fun!
