When a team wins a USL championship, they pass out of the moment and into the ages. This season was no different for the champions, the Scrubs. On Wednesday night beer flowed, balls rolled, and champions were born.
It was a fairytale ending for the Scrubs on Wednesday night. They fought it out with Liquored Splits in the semi-finals to make it to the final round against the Beastie Balls. The Beastie Balls seemed poised for victory after handily defeating their opponents for most of the season; everyone saw them as unbeatable. Indeed, they bowled a great game- with Justin's four strikes in a row, it was close- but not enough to win it all.
What nobody saw coming was the unbelievable night that Jeremy Beard would have. He bowled an unprecedented seven strikes in a row! Both teams watched and cheered, and the excitement in the air was palpable.
It was not Jeremy's seven strikes alone that brought the Scrubs to victory. Solid and consistent bowling by the rest of the team was key, with a special shout-out going to Bonnie, who bowled a Turkey herself. Congratulations Scrubs! See you next season!
