NFL is in full swing and the Underdog League has begun! You don't have to say that twice to this weeks player of the week, Sacha Kirsti.
The forecast called for cold, but she came out fully prepared and ready to go. Sacha took a hit early on in the game but lead her team with amazing defense in gathering 4 flag pulls and leading her team to a victory.
Welcome back to Underdog in a great season opener to her and her team.
This weeks player of the week goes to the one, the only, Lynne Halvorson. She not only lead her team to a victory with her great defense, but she played on her birthday.
Some people sleep in or go out on their special day, but not Lynne. She had business to take care of 1st. On her birthday, she took the field like Ray Lewis and was running around pulling flags all around, holding their opponents to 19 points and leading her team to a 36-19 victory.
Congratulations Lynne, way to start your celebration on your birthday with a victory!
Underdog Sports true image came out this weekend in one particular player, Jason Roan. I Touchdown There took the field today ready to come out strong and play against the Indy United team. Jason displayed the true meaning of Underdog by cheering on his team from the sideline, inspiring them through out a tough and well played game.
When he did take the field, he lead his team to the most penalties (unintended), but he also made some great receptions and some flag pulls on defense. At the end of the day, he had the biggest smile on his face demonstrating what this league is all about....fun!!! Congratulations to Jason Roan, this weeks player of the week.
An amazing finish to an amazing game. Farve Dollar Footlongs took the field against a talented Alcoholics Anonymous. This high scoring game was sure to keep every spectator on the edge of their seats and it did not disappoint. Early in the game Lauren Carpenter set the standards high by scoring a touchdown with an great grab and an amazing sprint towards the end zone. She then dominated on defense by pulling 3 flags.
In the 2nd half, Lauren kept that intensity strong by making an outstanding reception on 3rd and gender giving the Alcoholics Anonymous a 1st down and targeting the end zone. Then with just under 1.30 to play and the score tied at 50-50, quarterback Tommie Moore, finds Lauren with a reception near the end zone and she made a great move for the go ahead score.
Alcoholics Anonymous now with a 57-50 lead and Farve Dollar Footlongs on the pursuit to tie the game up. On 2nd and short, Lauren comes running in like a mad linebacker to make the sack taking the opposing team 5 yards back. The Footlongs gather their composure begin to knock on the door of the end zone for the tie.
Now with only 4 seconds left in the game, on the final play of the game, the pass is up only to be dropped by the receiver in the end zone. Whistles blow, the game is over and Alcoholics Anonymous rejoice with a nail biting victory of 57-50 lead by this weeks player of the week Lauren Carpenter!
Amanda Willis was all over the field like a chicken with its head cut off today. She must of had some dum-dum loll-i-pops and gotten a sugar high before the game as she lead her Farve Dollar Footlongs to a 42-22 win.
During the game, she had 3 completions but wasn't satisfied just catching the ball. She constantly kept looking down field for additional yards where she made a few spin moves and showed off her speed.
On Defense, she set the tempo preventing a couple of catches and raising havoc on the quarterback. She became an easy pick for the player of the week. Congratulations Amanda and the Farve Dollar Footlongs.
"C'mon defense, lets get a stop!"
Those were the inspiring words you would hear on the field by Safety Blitzed. Next thing you know, interception return for a touchdown by Christen Segerstrom.
Safety Blitzed took on Tom Brady's Babies on Sunday. Christian must have been dreaming of this game because he came out playing like there was no tomorrow. He was the go-to guy on 3rd down conversions, snatching the long ball out of the air for a 1st down. He demonstrated how long his stride is and displaying his nimble feet with pretty spin moves as he would prance into the end zone for 4 touchdowns.
He was clutch on defense, as he intercepted 2 balls when Tom Brady's Babies was about to score.
Congratulations Christen Segerstrom from Safety Blitzed, this weeks player of the week.

POTW: Shelby Gerrits
Plan B
Plan B -vs- TD's In your Face played today and Shelby Gerrits played like a rabbit chasing a carrot. One play, she smiled at the defender and went deep. The ball came to her, and she was gone only to be caught from behind near the end zone on a play that half the field.
In the 2nd half, it was like de-ja-vu all over again. Her smile shined on the defenders to mesmerize them and then she took advantage catching 2 long passes and a touchdown reception.
Don't let that smile fool you because she sacked the quarterback late in the game.
Shelby had a great game in a losing 22-18 effort. Nonetheless, she is the player of the week. Congratulations and good game.
We have a shared player of the week honors. This week it is shared by Nathan Barry and Dan Barbon.
Nathan has a nickname that his team has made up for him. He is known as "Butt Hug" because he relentlessly pressures the quarterbacks all season long. This week, he recorded 5 sacks in one game.
Dan has a nickname as well, known as "Old Man River". Not only can he do the river dance better than anyone you will ever meet, he proved that he still has some moves, scoring 2 touchdowns in a critical game.
Congratulations to both players in the shared honors of players of the week.
