Indy #2
There's definitely a few dynamics to flag football that take some getting used to and only time and experience can help you fine-tune your game. However, the INDY #2 squad made all the right adjustments during a close battle with the Sandsharks and found a way into the win column this Sunday.
Theresa Evans decided that the season opener was going to be her breakout game and brought in three big time catches, one of which she found the endzone for a crucial TD.
Her effort and play rallied the troops and helped the INDY #2 team eek out a 21-19 win in a hard fought battle that lasted to the final seconds.
Congrats Theresa, you're the UNDERDOG CO-ED FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!

You don't always have to be on the winning team to put forth a great show of big skills and big effort. Greg Bechtel of the Indy #2 squad maybe wasn't on the winning end of the scoreboard in a battle against a tough Reply To All team but it wasn't because of a lack of effort or a lack of tough play.
In his second season of Flag Football, also his second season with Underdog, Greg is having a blast and is showing all teams throughout the league that even though they're still working on a name for their squad you can't take the Indy #2 team lightly.
Great game today Greg, keep it up. Congrats, you're our UNDERDOG CO-ED FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK.

Brush Your Shoulders
If you would have checked Brian's blood pressure during the game, you would've thought he was a zombie. Brian was so calm during pressure that a Tibetan Monks were out to recruit him.
Reply To All had their hands full as they played Alcoholics Unanimous. Reply To All came in with a 0-11 career against this team. But today they had Brian Collon that ate his Wheaties, strapped on his cleats and brushed off his shoulders before he took the field.
Brian played like he was coached by John Elway pointing the finger at his receivers as he threw the ball. While being pressured he was as cool as the other side of the pillow leading his team past a rival opponent.
After the game, his team wanted to open the champagne bottles, but Brian simply walked over to his Gatorade as to say....."Its what I do."
Either way, Congratulations to the Player of the Week.

Safely Blitzed
Often it's the players on the field get the most glory in victory. However, in Safely Blitzed's 27-21 nail-biting showdown with the Black Hawks, the Safely Blitzed squad had to look to the stands for the guidance that would make the difference.
Taking some time from living "vicariously through himself" the Most Interesting Man in the World, made an appearance today at Lewis and Clark College. Donning a Safely Blitzed jersey, the man who does calculus in his head and that as a toddler taught others to walk, stood up for nearly two hours (without sitting down or even moving) and watched over his team as they fought tooth and nail for their win.
So Congratulations to the Safely Blitzed squad your our Underdog Flag Football Team of the Week!

Some Like it Soft
In a tight battle with Negative Reinforcement, Some Like it Soft's Emily Kearns wasn't nearly as concerned with the opposition as she was with EXPOSURE to the sun.
Turning her clothes backwards in a KRISS KROSS fashion, Kearns didn't want to show cleavage but decided to showcase her "back-age". Apparently the uniform change was the what Kearns needed as she found the endzone to put six on the board and tacked on the following extra point. It was all smiles for Kearns on sunny day that put the Some Like it Soft squad back in the win column.
Congrats to Emily Kearns our UNDERDOG FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!

He fears no pig skin
On the field, you can often know that Anthony Paris is playing because he is always the loudest one yelling "....Let's go Drops!" He usually comes out rocking out the protective head gear that the NFL used in the 60's, but on Sunday, he was without it because he wanted to show off his great hair.
Flying Elbow Drops (from the top rope) came out to play a worthy opponent and both teams started out the game slow. Once the Elbow Drops scored, Anthony would place the ball on the ground and display his awesome elbow drop on the ball just like vintage Macho Man Randy Savage in the WWF.
The 1st time it happened, he did it in the back of the end zone. But the 2nd time he did the "Elbow Drop" after scoring a touchdown, Anthony ran the ball out for everyone to see it. He made a point that there is no pig skin that he can't handle.
Flying Elbow Drop (from the top rope) not only knows how to have fun, but aside from playing games on Sundays, they lead the league in most theatrical moves. Congratulations to Anthony Paris for sharing his fun with us as he gets the Player of the Week award!

Good Play
Brian Tomalak has been nominated to the Underdog Sports League hall of fame. It is crazy that no player knew that USL had a hall of fame, but it does exist.
Brian was nominated not only for his game play, but above all, he is in the hall of fame for his great sportsmanship on the field. He is one of those players that will joke around with you on the field and if you fall down, he will be there to pick you up and give you a pat on the back with the words "Good Play".
He had his team come out today even though he knew the opposing team had to forfeit last minute. Brian has played in Underdog Flag Football for 16 straight seasons and only missing 3 of those seasons.
The Bionic Hamstrings picked up a great leader to lead the way. Win or lose, Brian will always be there with a smile ready to shake your hand. That is why he is this week's Player of the Week. Congratulations.

Player of the Year
Intimidating yet Happy
She is part of the Underdog Flag Football Family. When you get in her way, you better not look in her eyes because you will be intimidated. She is the loudest person on the field yet she measures just over 5 feet. You can hear her coming from down the street. Of course I'm talking about non other than Michelle Meneses from Alcoholics Unanimous.
Michelle can intimidate you by her look and sounds like a stadium full of chanting fans, but truth be told she will kill you with her beautiful smile and warm embrace.
"its just a front" is what she says. Michelle is the happiest player on the field and one of the most charismatic players to play Underdog Football. Whether it is during a game, before or after, if you talk to her she will amuse you with her laughter and is one of the easiest going person to talk to. She demonstrates her love for the game and love for Underdog every week with great sportsmanship which is why she deserves the Player of the Year Award, Congratulations Michelle! Keep on Rockin'!
