The bomb squad
Sara Stillwell
The Pit Crew
Starting out a little bit nervous behind the plate, as catcher, Sara loosened up and played! Getting the ball back to the pitcher and so much more. First and second at bats, lead to singles.
Adding hustle, base hits, and scoring twice she was making plays and having fun! The Pit Crew was on it and everyone made plays, and contributed. Great attitudes and game!
Regardless of the score during one of their games, you can always count on team Bobby Sucks to give it their all, have a good time and remind each other there's always a chance for them to make a comeback. The game against team Sit on my Base may well have been out of hand during the 5th inning, yet this didn't stop right fielder Sarah Lewis from attempting to chase down a long foul ball heading down the first base line. Full sprint, eyes wide open and a potential SportsCenter top 10 play in her sights...Sarah was focused on making this catch. With just two strides left on her mighty journey, Sara fell victim to a turf monster, landing straight on her face just shy on the ball. A gasp and then silence fell over the field...was this the end of Sara's summer softball season? Not a chance, as Sara bounced up immediately from the ground with a smile on her face.
Thanks Sara for your effort and giving us all a scare/laugh on this fine summer day for Underdog softball!
Reagan Rosen woke up sick on Sunday... but that didn't stop her from coming out to be the 10th player for the Muddogs at Gabriel Park. She fought through sickness in 95 degree heat to make sure her team had a full squad and ensured her team's 34-13 rout of Basic Pitches. This act of heroism is what Underdog Sports Leagues is all about and snags her this week's Player of the Week.
Every hero has their costume. For Emy Larsen, that costume happens to be jean shorts. A superhero seldom has a lot of time to dress for hero duty and Sunday was no exception for Emy . She only had five minutes to get dressed to go to the park and rescue her teammates from a loss. She landed on jean shorts and the rest was history. Emy crushed a home run over the fence and also turned a base hit into a caught fly ball and double play during Sit on My Base's 22-13 victory over the Regal Beagles. I wouldn't be surprised to see the entire Sit on my Base squad in jorts next week. Congratulations Emy! You're this week's Player of the Week.
Her camelback fully loaded a knack for calling the right pitch at the right time behind the plate, Julie has been a mainstay for the defense of Scared Hitless all season long. Even though she has struggled at the plate at times this season, Julie's willingness to work on her swing and take advice from her teammates this season finally paid off with some serious solid contact all game long.
With Julie finding her hitting groove and new found confidence at the plate, team Scared Hitless looks to be a force to be reckoned with the playoffs just around the corner.
Josh showed up to the diamond today with a mitt and nothing but smiles! His team kept saying he was ‘living his best life’ and it sure looked like it. He was making tough plays at short stop look easy. Making dives and grabs, then throwing strikes all around the diamond .
He had his bat going as well, hitting hard liners into the gap before sending one over the fence!
Team Muddogs is a tight knit group...friends on and off the field who enjoy spending their Sundays playing Underdog softball and encouraging their fellow teammates to be their best througout the game. Val Nelson quarterbacked her team from the catcher's position today, making sure the pitcher remained focused and the defense was in the right position at all times. Her bat was also alive and well today, leading to some clutch base hits and setting the tone with some "hard 90" baserunning when it was needed the most. With the playoffs just around the corner, Val being Val will be needed for the Muddogs to stake their claim as Summer league champs.
