Balls Deep Shakes of Tough Start, Shows Some Spirit!
The final outcome may not have been what they were looking for but, that didn't stop them from having a great night. Led by Captain Kat Alfanso and her fantastically colored tutu, Balls Deep were a great example of Underdog Softball.
It took a couple innings to get going but a positive attitude and some sweet defensive plays brought Balls Deep back to life and made for a lively match-up. Monday nights effort may have not have produced a win but, it was great and efforts like that in future will produce many great times and a some wins.
Allee was an all around contributor this week. She hit, she played solid defense, plus she had all those intangibles that pro scouts look for when projecting the major league careers of college players...and intramural softball players. Well done, Allee!

Stephen Harper
Swingers
If Stephen were an element, he would be ice. While he was constantly razzed (in good fun of course) he never said one word back to anyone. He stayed cool under fire, smiled, and let his play do his talking. Hats off to a great example of sportsmanship and composure.
Nick "Cougar Bait" French was instrumental in the success of Balls Deep this week. Nick was able to contribute in every facet of the game. A hi energy player who had a very positive influence on the outcome of his game.
When not coming up with great plays at shortstop or run producing hits, Nick was helping to coach players into the right positions, coaching bases and lending a supportive word anywhere he could. Nick is great player and great teammate.
Go Balls Deep Exhibits Has What it Takes to be a True Underdog Success.
On what was a fantastic Monday evening Go Balls Deep made the night. Led by a fantastic captain, this high organized, high energized, and highly skilled team is going to be tough to beat.
On this night they used all these skills to beat a hard hitting pitch-slap team. Good pitching, solid hitting, and good defensive rotation allowed Go Balls Deep to take advantage of Pitch Slaps' inexperience and just outlast them. Hot action on a hot night!

Meat Club Uses a Pickle in Their Recipe for Success.
It was some heated action in the final match-up of Monday Night. Meat Club was able to use just the right amount of spice and pull out a victory.
Laura Aurthur led the way on the mound. She threw many strikes, using her Grade A defense to their full potential. On offense Amelia Kerns and Chris Trulsen were able to pound the ball all over the diamond driving in just enough runs.
Pitch-Slap gave it all they had but, Meat Club threw a pickle in the mix to score the winning run. The action was hot but Meat Club was perfectly prepared for victory.

The Drunken Pirates
On Monday night Jose showed why he is the Captain of The Drunken Pirates. He contributed in all aspects of this win.
Pitching, Jose worked the strike zone keeping Chupacabra Tsunami hitters off balance and off the board. On offense Jose kept rallies alive and drove in multiple runs.
Jose's greatest contribution on this night was his great attitude. He is a tremendous player who works very hard to make sure his team plays hard, plays fair and are good sports. Win or lose Jose makes sure everyone on both teams stays involved and has a great time. A very positive player who more often than not gets positive results.

Chad Olson
Swingers
Creep can roll, man. Chad O's defense anchored Swinger's 12-7 win over undefeated "Balls Deep". He also added some power on offense, driving in several crucial runs. Well done, Chad!
In the final game Monday Roots played the Swingers very tough. For a group of converted soccer players with very little softball experience this group is tough to play.
Take a great game pitched by Marika Strauss, add a couple key catches by Julia Gray, sprinkle in a hard hit ball or two by Opai Adamsona and Dan Neiger and you have the makings of a very competitive match-up.
The Roots are a very fun team who play til the final out is called. They have a great time and a great attitude. A little more seasoning and they will be staples in Underdog softball playoffs.

Gerard OSullivan
chupacabra tsunami
What a beautiful evening it was to play softball and special honors go out to Gerard OSullivan for keeping his team in both games of their double header. His fervor and energy gave them a boost when they needed it most. Not to mention, his pitching skills were on display in the 4th inning as he wowed the crowd with each wild pitch.
You wanna talk about clutch? Nick L. stepped up his game in the playoffs. Bigtime. He had monster numbers on offense, with several hits capped off by a game winning 3-run homer. Wearing his Pirates uniform, Nick reminded me of Andy Van Slyke circa 1992.
Some players disappear during the playoffs -- they simply can't take the pressure. But not Carl B. This grizzled Underdog veteran put on a clinic in handling pressure
Carl B. came up big on Wednesday with some monster pitching, monster hitting, and some great plays on defense.
