Jorge did it all on Sunday. In addition to helping lead his Mound Pounders to victory, he was a great team player. When one of his teammates expressed frustration for not making a play in the field, Jorge remained the voice of reason, letting her know, "it's okay." This cool demeanor also presented itself when Jorge and teammate Mary agreed to stick around and play for Batting Order of the Phoenix so that they could field a full squad against Pabst Smear. Great leadership, Jorge!

Dan showed up to the field sporting a new hairdo on Sunday (think Ricky Vaughn from 'Major League'), but it did nothing to change up his game. He just did what he does - smack the ball all over the field and help Pitch Please edge out a close game against Pitches Be Crazy. Well done, Dan!

Tommy shines in golden jubilee!
Tommy celebrated the big 5-0 Saturday night. Then he shook off the 'game-time decision' designation to give softball lessons on Sunday. Batting leadoff, pitching, and coming up with a huge 2-out hit in the 7th inning, he was clearly ready for the moment. Great playing, Tommy!

Masa is a Softball Natural!
Underhanded Compliments
You would never know that the spring season has been Masa's first time playing softball. Week after week he makes great catches in the outfield and hits the ball all over the field. He made a superb over-the-shoulder catch in deep left center Sunday and used his speed to race around the bases. When trying his hand at shortstop, he fielded the first ball hit his way and casually made a behind-the-back flip to his teammate Kristina for a force out at second base. That there was no runner on first base is of no consequence when you're making Brandon Phillips type web gems. Forget Roy Hobbs, Masa is the softball natural!

Masa was chosen by his team captain to be the Most Improved Player of the Year. He had games in the field and at the plate, and played a crucial part in his teams championship run.

Sons of Pitches turns back the clock
When I was a pee wee flag football player, the league commissioner in which I played singled me out during the final huddle in front of the entire league to salute my tenacity. I was the smallest - and certainly not the fastest player in the league.

Sons of Pitches definitely wasn't the youngest team on the field Sunday, but they undoubtedly, to quote my league commissioner, wanted it more than anyone else. The effort and desire was palpable from the first pitch. While Doc and Rayce flew around the bases wreaking absolute havoc, Kip and Crystal locked it down at second base and left field. I'm still wondering why people tried to hit it in their direction...Add a few defensive gems at third by Chad, more reliable pitching from Sean, and Dan going Big Mac Mode, and it was clear - on the softball field - this Father's Day belonged to the Sons of Pitches!
