No Guts, No Glory--Kristin Eberle Goes Rubber Balls out
Team Batwing
A new court and the sting of new rubber balls didn't set Kristin Eberle back one bit as she played with a reckless abandon that helped Team Batwing rack up a win their first match before being falling to the Go Big or Go Home Squad later in their second match.
Even in her team's loss Kristin didn't let up. It seemed that in almost every game she was the last (wo)man standing and it wasn't because she spent time hiding behind other players or spectating in the corner. In fact, it appears as though Eberle's prefers to battle it out inches from the mid court line where she can usually be found during the course of a match.
In the opening day of Wednesday night Dodge Ball Kristin Eberle showed it takes more than some rubber balls to get it done on the court.
So here's to you Kristin, you're our Wednesday Night Underdog Dodge ball Player of the Week!
Dejene "D" Taye visually is not hard to miss on the Dodge ball court but you would also know he's there even with your eyes closed. With "D" constantly rushing the mid court line, leaping over balls, and flailing rockets at his opponents, his humorous and sporadic banter makes just as much noise and catches just as much attention as his dodge ball skills.
Taye is a big part the hit squad that is Team Awesome Harder and is a big proponent of the team's fair and honest play. When Awesome Harder shows up they always mean business but it's evident with guys and gals like "D" they love Dodge ball and they love having a good time just as much as they love to win.
So congrats Big D, you got jokes and you got balls and that makes you our Wednesday Night Underdog Dodge Ball Player of the Week.
It is clear that the MAKE IT RAIN squad is out to make a name for themselves. A good portion of the team can lay down some serious rubber artillery and they think nothing of selling out and sacrificing their bodies to the unforgiving Jefferson High tennis courts.
The game of Dodgeball can be a little intimidating to those who haven't played before let alone to rookies who play on hardcore squads like MAKE IT RAIN. Even so rookie Megan Dickeman in only her third week has decided to wave goodbye to the rookie jitters.
So what it is a person to do if you have a heavy rubber ball rocketing at you? Some people dodge, dip, dive, duck, or...dodge? While Megan CATCHES it. The rookie was possessed in the MAKE IT RAIN match-ups this week and made some gnarly grabs that kept her team in the game.
When asked if she was having fun playing dodgeball Megan replied, "Yeah, it hurt less this week.' Well remember Megan, pain is just weakness leaving the body so you must be getting stronger because your dodgeball skillz definitely are.
So congrats Megan, you are the Wednesday Night Underdog Dodgeball Player of the Week!
A big shout out goes to the Hertz Donut Squad this week. With consistent great play that got them through the night without a loss, Hertz Donut really shined as a team in their two very close matches against an up-and-coming Blunt Force Trauma team and the already tough MAKE IT RAIN platoon.
Was it clutch throws or the coordinated attacks that put Hertz Donut on top tonight? Or could it have been the team spirit reminiscent of back-in-the-day school yard games where a bunch a friends got together to have a good time. Whatever it was, you showed us that JOKES and clutch-play as a unit equals dodgeball success. So Congrats to Hertz Donut, your play as a team is what earned you this week's top honors as our Wednesday Night Dodgeball TEAM of the Week.
A multi-sport Underdog Player, Leland Cockcroft is a force to be reckoned with on the Dodgeball court or the Flag Football Field. A veteran in both sports, Cockcroft likes playing Flag Football but admits Dodgeball hi sport of choice. "We're better at it," Leland says of his Hertz Donut team and their Dodgeball talent. However, whether its the gridiron or the court, it is clear Leland and Hertz Donut are all about having fun.
The tall Cockcroft has cannon but is also very deceptive and tricky with how he throws a dodgeball. He also isn't afraid to change levels and is very hard to get at. Even in tense situations Leland's the guy playing with a smile and cracking jokes.
So Congrats to Leland Cockcroft, Our Wednesday Night Dodgeball Player of the Week!
Laah Wallace--Hustle, Muscle, and a big bag of tricks
Go Big or Go Home
It's no secret to anyone that the entire Go Big or Go Home squad has a big bag full of tricks. This team always has a sound game plan and could do quite well playing dodgeball the good, old-fashioned way but that's just not their style...and not as much as fun. With fake outs that opposing teams say they always see coming (yet they somehow always work), crazy and weird side-arm throws, and tricky change-ups, this squad can be a lot to handle and even more fun to watch.
At the center of the madness, stands a player a short stature but always delivers a tall order or heart and hustle. Laah Wallace, for those of you that don't her is the one GBOGH player that has perfected the no-look, misdirection, side-arm throw that plenty of opponents have fallen victim too. Even above some of the crazy throws and even crazier catches, Wallace plays with the utmost integrity and pushes herself all over the court always giving it her best.
So Congrats Laah, you're our WEDNESDAY NIGHT UNDERDOG DODGEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK.
A lot of players say they let their play do their talking. Which is ironic because if you actually speak those words is your play really doing your talking?
Palmer Coe doesn't have that problem. His play does his talking. He speaks with pinpoint accuracy in his dodgeball throws and his sure-handed catches get a lot of verbal responses, mostly from opposing players as they walk to the sideline. Through all the commotion, Palmer is usually pretty silent. He just wants to have a good time and wants his teammates and opponents do the same.
This season wasn't Coe's first rodeo. Watching him play its apparent the man's been playing dodgeball for quite some time. He knows all the tricks but relies mainly on skill that only comes with experience.
So Congrats to Palmer Coe, a nice guy with a dodgeball attitude, and our UNDERDOG WEDNESDAY NIGHT DODGEBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!
