Numm, numm, numm, numm.....
These are the famous words of the beloved Cookie Monster. Under the lights and on the field The Cookie Monster makes his presence known as he broke out of Cookie Rehab to make an appearance with us for the opener of Thursday Night Football.
It looks like he is good friends with the team Sweaty Yetis and even stepped on the field to have a few snaps at the QB position. He only came off the field because he didn't want to show every body up.
Who knows what the real reason is why he came off the field, but he did make his presence known while he was there. By association, The Sweaty Yetis get the Team of the Week Award and the Matt Orenchuck gets the Player of the Week Award for bringing him out. Congratulations guys, keep bringing the fun!
He may be tall and have a long stride when he runs, but he is also agile. Seth Buchwalter from Thundercatz took off on his route in the opening drive. This is what you normally see and expect from players, but he also did the unpredictable.
On the opening play of the game, Seth decided that he was having tons of fun so on his route he did a cartwheel mid-route. This was so bizarre that it threw his defender off guard as Seth was wide open down the field. Unfortunately they didn't pass him the ball, but he accomplished his goal to get open.
This was such an uncommon play that it made the side ref spit his whistle out and hold his knees in laughter. Way to go Seth, you made people laugh and you got open. For that accomplishment alone, you deserve the Player of the Week award. Congratulations!
The Blood, Sweat, and Beers squad is tearing it up. After a few great seasons, the teams is really starting to show some big time skills across their roster. Especially against some quality opponents.
Led by Captain Jason Thomas, BSB is not only a team with a lot of heart but a team not knows how to have a lot of fun.
Thomas plays big and he plays smart. His approach to the game is reflected in the way his team plays. BSB has an arsenal of offensive weapons in their players and defensively, they rarely give up an easy play. Aside from all the skills, one thing BSB doesn't have is a bad team attitude. You'll never hear one BSB teammate bad mouth another. You might see a BSB player knock one of their players down after an interception in the endzone ;) (BTW you can return 2-pt conversions Jason, jk) but you'll never hear bickering among their squad or directed at the other team. That speaks volumes. Not only of their team but the captain who calls the shots. It's one thing to pull in the big catches, which Thomas does on the regular, but it's another to keep a team together and having fun.
So congrats to Jason Thomas, OUR THURSDAY NIGHT UNDERDOG FLAG FOOTBALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK!!!
Carol is bringing back the Old School to Underdog. 4 years ago when Wet Hot Pink played consistent football, Carol was a key player to the team. Now she is back. Signed up as an Indy player with team Thundercatz she has proven to be a giant asset yet again.
Thundercatz know how to have fun and love to play football, but Carol puts the F in Fun! She shows up with a smile on her face and has the amazing spirit to go with it. If that isn't enough she constantly makes big plays in games and then says "I'm trying to not drop the ball."
She capped out last nights game with a 40yard dash into the end zone as she celebrated with her team in a victory. Whether she catches a ball or not, Carol likes to have fun and because of that we give her the Player of the Week Award. Congratulations!
The big 3-0 can be interpreted many different ways. It can mean that you are undefeated or that you are reaching a mile stone in your life. For Alan Moran from Sweaty Yetis it means that he is 30 years young.
At 18 we reach a mile stone for many different reasons. At 21 we are able to do many other things like play Underdog Sports. At 30 it means that you are feeling good especially if you share it with us at Underdog. That is exactly what Alan did. Not only did he come out to play flag football under the lights, but he also played better than most players running and jumping in the air making grabs and pulling flags. The best thing about all this is that he would have had fun even if he didn't do all this on the field.
Alan has the right spirit and attitude when playing football and that is what makes him stand out above most people. He is the 1st one to shake your hand and say "great play".
The Sweaty Yetis love having him around and so do we! Because of his contagious spirit and great time, we give Alan Moran the Player of the Week Award. Congratulations and a big Happy Birthday!
