Two Underdog newbies duked it out for the Westmoreland Division 1 title on Wednesday. Humbabes came out of the gate strong, dropping a 9-spot in the first inning. But Bombers - in what would prove to be a recurring theme - showed their resiliency by responding with 8 of their own. Neither team could get much separation after that. Every time one team scored a few runs, the other answered the bell with counterpunches.

Bombers leveraged a patient approach at the plate, making Humbabes knuckleballer, Hypes, get in the zone. When he did, they were ready to strike. In the sixth inning, with the game still very much in the balance, Eddie did his best Rajai Davis impersonation, lining a three-run HR into the left field net with an exit velo that read: "Error, does not compute."

Ultimately, Bombers hurler Matt was able to throw enough strikes to keep the Humbabes honest. With Maddux-like control, he was so sure of his stuff, he reverse-Babe Ruthed it, calling his shots as the ball floated toward homeplate for strikes. An epic championship final ended in a 29-26 shootout, hopefully the first of many between these two emergent Underdog stalwarts.
