Reminiscent of the Tasmanian devil...Brandon was spinning past defenders on his way to the end zone every time he touched the ball. FLAG GUARD! Nope...not Brandon. He kept his arms up but his spin was so fast the flags virtually disappeared...or that's how it must have felt for the defense. Heads up to future opponents....there is a YouTube video on how to catch this guy but it involves a PVC trap and a bit of food. Good luck!
I'm guessing that Justin knows his was around the clubs and dance floor because this guy's got moves! The changes of direction, spins and just all-around elusiveness give Justin tons of yards-after-catches but in the end it's not the other team that suffers the most...it's his shorts! Although we don't necessarily recommend speedo's or spandex maybe some old-school basketball short shorts or something might help keep his budget down in future weeks from his pockets getting ripped.
A sack...a stat that doesn't grab the headlines in flag football. While anyone can rush the quarterback, it takes a special player to track down a man with the ball who is doing everything in his power to keep his flags on his belt.
Dominick of team Westbound & Up displayed his "five dog and go" skills all game long in a tightly contested game against team Tats & Tots on field 1 at Lewis & Clark on Sunday. Two amazing sacks, a 31-21 victory...not too shabby of a game for a defensive presence to be reckoned with all season long.
With the game on the line, Doc Dynasty came up big! Down by 1 point in the final 2 minutes the Dynasty came up with a big defensive stop and started their drive from their own half of the field. After a few big plays they had the ball as time was expiring at the 1-yard line. Looking for a leader to bring them the W, Nick found his target in Kyle for a spectacular game-winning catch!
What a day for QB Joey Jenkins. He lead his team "legends of the fall" to two victories on a beautiful day at Lewis & Clark. In the first game "legends" came out victorious as Joey threw for 4 TD's connecting with his top notch group of receivers. In the second game of the double header, Joey maintained his composure as the sun began to set and he orchestrated several nice drives down the field to lead his team to a 31 to 24 victory over team "Doc Dynasty". Congratulations Joey...you are the player of the week!
This afternoon seemed like any other Sunday with the sun shining and flag football happening. How wrong I was though, it was a very special day. It was about midway through the first half when The Cure lined up for their two point conversion against Alcoholics Anonymous. The quarterback looked left and came back to throw right just as Dominic broke towards the receiver. Dominic picked it off in full stride taking it back clear across the field completely untouched. It doesn't happen often but it really is a heck of a play. Dominic went on to score a couple touchdowns as well. Not a bad day at all.
What do you get when you take a forfeit, a fun loving family (team), and add a squirrel? You get what amounted to this weeks team of the week and event of the week.
AA found themselves without an opponent on Sunday, but that didn't stop them. They brought the ladies down and put together a 40 min exhibition full of fun and laughs where many of the ladies out played the guys.
Just before halftime, a shout could be heard across the field as a squirrel had made its way into the stands and was heading for someones egg rolls and brownies. The whole team went after the squirrel, led by their fearless leader Michelle (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and were able to fight off the squirrel and save the brownies (must have been some good brownies to get the whole team involved)
The fun, laughter, and epic squirrel event all led to a great Underdog day. Thank you AA for having such a great time and thank you for being such a great representative for our league.
