First Place

Spring Co-ed Flag Football Thursday at Lewis and Clark 6:30pm

The Ice Bowl. The Catch. The Immaculate Reception. All pale in comparison to the Underdog 2007 Spring Championship Game. In a gutsy come-from-behind victory, Portland Paintball knocked off previously unbeaten Good Guys & Gals, 30-19.

It looked like 3G were going to cruise to an undefeated season as they jumped out in front of PP 19-6 in the first half. QB Bill Henderson threw three touchdown passes which included an incredible catch by Carrie O'Bannion. And Kevin Bernard snuffed out important PP drives with two interceptions.

As Paintball took the field in the second half, Hail Mary whipped up her teammates by practicing her chest bumps. This caused the defense to stiffen and the Good Guys & Girls weren't able to penetrate the Paintball end zone.

PP climbed back into the game thanks to touchdown catches by Shelby Gerrits and Brandon Via. And when Tim Sosinsky made a diving catch in the end zone to snag a deflection, Paintball was thinking upset as they went ahead 24-19.

With just one minute left, Henderson quickly marched 3G down into the PP red zone. But Brandon Via leaped high for an interception at the goal line, and twisted and darted all the way back downfield for a coast to coast touchdown to ice the victory.

Earlier, The Lone Rangers held off the thirsty Third and Beer team to claim third place, 38-31, thanks to some stellar play by Alicia Lindquist. Congratulations to all teams for the great games and for keeping it safe and fun!

POTW: Brandon Via

Portland Paintball

Brandon Via helped pull his team ahead in the 2007 Championship by making a tough catch in traffic just inside the goal line. But when Portland Paintball's lead was in jeopardy with just seconds left in the game, Brandon soared into the air to snag an interception at the goal line. He then bobbed, weaved and jetted back downfield for 60 yards and a TD to preserve the championship, 30-19.

POTW: Shelby Gerrits

Portland Paintball

Portland Paintball's Shelby Gerrits showed up huge, huge, HUGE! Several great pulls and two touchdowns including a diving catch to win the semifinal game against the Loan Rangers

Thursday, May 17

POTW: Jacob Dorau

Portland Paintball

If there were any questions concerning the defending league champs they were answered Thursday night at Lewis and Clark. Jacob Dorau lead his team in a rebound win 35-12 over Hot Route. In true underdog fashion a safe, fair, and fun game was played by both teams.
