The sun was shining and the bees were buzzing on this perfect day for a championship game! It opened up with Little Lebowski Urban Achievers vs. Douche Newtons and it was a nail biter all the way to the end. With Lebowski taking the lead mid-way through the game, the Newton's decided to take it into their own hands with a 2-run bottom of the sixth inning to take the one run lead...for good. It was a well played game by both teams and Lebowski looked like a championship caliber team but came up just short.
With the Newton's having a double header and heading into the championship game with Kickin' Kids they showed no signs of fatigue and their defense came through in the clutch. Kickin' Kids came out swinging with Farmer Pete taking it deep and hustling around the bases for a lead-off home run in the second inning. The Newton's came back and were up by a score of 4-2 heading into the sixth inning. The Kids added a run in the bottom of the sixth and threatened again in the bottom of the seventh but the defense behind Niel's superb pitching closed the gaps and made the plays to finish out the game ahead! Two games both within one-run showed that all these teams deserved to be here today and more importantly they all did it with a smile on their faces. Great season to all and to all a good night!
Niel stepped into an unusual role for himself onto the pitchers mound. He showed he was as good as the scouting reports showed and may have just earned a few more innings up there in future seasons. Big Panda Matt decided to put Niel in for the double header and he proved to be a great choice! In related news both Corine and Matt had error-free games today!
