Notes

First Place

Fall Co-Ed Futsal at SE PDX Courts Wednesdays

Hearts and Elbows had one big heart and I think we can all agree that was the El Capitan herself, Ms. Pear. Their cohesion started with her and those angry emails when her teammates did not show up to the first few games. With guilt bred into the team early they knew they had to commit and they certainly did come playoffs (maybe not Allison though).

They also had strength, as seen in week one when Dena Gillette managed to almost explode her tailbone on the court yet somehow crawl off, rest, and come back on to help them win.

Smarts were a part of the equation too with Griffin, who would always ask (very politely mind you) about his keeper lines and calls on restarts. Can't get ahead without questioning authority.

Another major aspect was style and it was pouring off of Tyler who brought the essence of A.I. with his incessant sneaker cleaning and ankle breaking moves. T-Bone special served up hot.

Every player brought something to the table and there at that table so perfectly set Hearts and Elbows fed on the competition. First they took care of Booty Traps with a 3-1 victory. A close game that saw them down 0-1 but they woke up and scored 3 unanswered.

Their second game was another close one with threesomes. Swarming tactics on the quick passing and movement by their foes did not calm the attack as they dispatched their opponent 4-2. On to the final.

Without some key players all night they pulled off wins and gained momentum. It showed in the final as they shut out the number one seed 3-0. Their chemistry was shown as each goal came off of great passing. They earned a championship was an Indy squad that turned into a real close knit group.

Hearts and Elbows, you are what Indy teams are all about. Great season and congrats on being our first Underdog Futsal champions!

Alison Pear

Ro Sham BoOOOM

As captain of her indy squad Alison started every game out with a little strategy. Intimidate from the get go. With a stare down that peered through her opponents soul and most likely gathered all intel on their futsal lineup and strategy Alison made sure to make the most of both of her Ro Sham Bo duels on the night.

Not only that but Alison kept her team light hearted with her self proclaimed potty mouth and antics on and off the field. She also did a great job keeping her team organized and up beat.

It is captains like these that make Underdog fun. Not only bring it on the field but have fun from the second you walk in, even if that means dropping a Ro Sham Boooom. Other captains beware, do not stare directly back at her, no one is sure exactly what will happen if you do so.
